kahn is 5 years younger than gamboa, i very much doubt if gamboa wasn't an aging prospect he would have been fighting anyone half decent yet.

When it is unrealistic to even compare them at all?

3 Things....

1. Different divisions. Gamboa fights at a division below Khan. On top of that, Khan is considered a massive light weight and will certainly move up to light welter and then welter within 4-5 years. With his height he could comfortably fight at junior middle if he wanted.

2. Age gap. By the time Khan and his team are setting up superfights (IF) Gamboa will be in his early 30's. Probably past his best given his size and the amount of wars he is likely going to get into.

3. Size difference. Gamboa is 5'5, Khan is 5'10. You might think "so what? Height doesn't mean sh!t, look at Paul williams", and that would be right for you to think that. Except, that is, when you factor in points 1 and 2. Their height difference means they will never be anywhere near each other. Gamboa has the clock against him. Khan has a lot of time to slowly progress through the weights. Two completely different directions.

 

I heard Gamboa was a descendant of Hercules, is this true?

 

Hercules was sculpted out of a mixture of Gamboa's ear wax, Charlie Zelenoff's courage and a kidney from Koki Kameda.

 

Its gonna happen man. Especially after he fights.

Lets face it. Talent like this doesnt come around very often and boxing maniacs like us recognize it.

 

How about Daffy Duck vs Gamboa? I believe Daffy could take him especially with Porky Pig in his corner. Give Gamboa a break. Many of you guys are going hype him up so much that you will next say he would have beaten Ali. If he gets knocked out in the next few fights, then you are going to hear fans just say "I knew he was overrated". I could have said Gamboa vs Kermit the frog, but Kermit has no legs.

Good points but I do believe they will meet at LW or WW within the next 4 years or so, because both stand out as huge prospects in adjacent divisions and potential stars in their respective divisions in the future. Unless Frank Warren is still involved with Khan, I see no reason why not.

Saying that, I do understand that at 26, Gamboa has no more 'filling out' to do as Khan has, so in the future there is potential that they will be two rather than one weight class apart.

 

Think it's related towards the hype of the two, and their succesful amateur careers. Gamboa could easily move up as well. Height doesn't mean everything if it isn't allowed to, which Gamboa will not.

Did height matter for Tyson? Did height help Valuev, when facing one of the top boxers of his division?

 

i think theres more of a realistic chance of Gamboa-Kevin mitchell in the future years tho than Khan-Gamboa, but again, as long as Frank Warren is not involved.

It saddens me how much Warren managed to hold Calzaghe back for the most part of his title reign.
