surprised he doesn't have better defense after that much experience....

I guess he may become more careful as he fights better opposition... cause as of now he is relentless but also has no regard for his own chin. I hope they step up the competition this year.

All those fights are the reason why it will be hard for him to adjust to better defense, he has been fighting the same way for so long it is almost impossible for him to grow good defense over a few fights.

I've always said that as Gamboa steps up in competition his defense will look sharper.

Thats a great record ****.I like Gamboa though i agree he gets wreckless at times because he knows his offense is superior by a landslide in the fights he's had.Def step the opposition up a notch tho. He wont be careless as the fights get bigger like Manama said .

    I dont buy that.

Seen him spar Selcuk Aydin in the gym, Selcuk is a good fighter himself and Gamboa is an all out menacing brawler.

Yeah, Gamboa won't change his style it seems, and it's open for counters. Which was very effective at 4x2, won't work at 12x3. The punches are bigger, the opponents settle down and adjust, strategy has a major part in winning. I guess it's too late to teach Yuri what 'hit without getting hit' means, he's like 'I'll hit you harder'. This makes him one of the most exciting fighters right now, but also puts him in danger every time. I guess we'll have to live with that.

But I still think he can make the necessary adjustment to turn the all-out aggression into controlled aggression, although I'm now more convinced than ever that an excellent pro trainer, Roach for example, or one of the Mayweathers needed. They are no Manny Stewards or Fritz Sduneks to change your style no matter what, they make you understand the pro game more and make the necessary adjustments without f*ing up what is already working. Also, they get your respect, something Yuri still lacks toward trainers. Gamboa has amazing skills, but strategic intelligence, reading opponents and stylistic adjustments are not among his skills.

Lol, that would be... funny. Now imagine Gamboa in the same swimming pool with Wegner, both drinking Cuba Libre.
