Tonight on HBO Gamboa will be taking on Mtagwa. Gamboa has been knocked down repeatedly by ESPN level opposition. His handlers then took a few classes back in opponents for him. Does Mtagwa have a chance to shatter Gamboa's fragile Glass Jaw?

    Thoughts?

Cheo Rojas knocked out Celestino Caballero and drew with Chris John - was he really a step back in competition? It's probably his best win to date.

Anyway, you never took me up on my offer 3 fights ago, unsurprisingly. You're just flat out wrong about Gamboa. Not every time someone gets knocked down it has to do with his chin. Gamboa fights off balance half the time, and if he gets caught when he's off balance, a strong breeze could blow him over. The four times he's been knocked down, three of them have been that kind of balance shot. The fourth one he was knocked down by an elbow, but the ref counted the knockdown, he was a little buzzed for 15 seconds, and then recovered just fine.

Will he get knocked down again? Absolutely. Will he get knocked out eventually? Probably. If you get knocked down that much, it's bound to happen where the shot actually buzzes him, and he might not get up by the count of 10. But I'll eat my pants if he gets knocked out cold by someone who isn't a huge puncher.

I agree with 90% of your assessments (although I hesitate to call any top boxer other than Amir Khan as having a true glass jaw - if a guy's chin is that bad, he won't even make it to the level where he's fighting credible contenders), but you're off base with this one.

I don't think Mtagwa has the power to hurt him, but with his questionable whiskers anything is possible.

I've allways noticed his chin is very sneaky, if Mtagwa catches him clean early we may see a surprise

I don't know whether it will be tonigh, but Gamboa definitely has a questionable chin. He's on the canvas repeatedly and quite possibly could be again tonight. Until he tightens his defense, it will be a liability at the top level.

Sometimes falling after a good punch is even better. You lose the round, but you will not get the 2nd and 3rd punch. So far he has been able to get up and win. Very far from a glass jaw. I don't like what I saw of Mtagwa during weight in. He looked like he didn't even wanted to be there. He looked depressed. He came at 122lbs and Gamboa will be around 138 to 140 at fight time. Plus, Mtagwa is not a great puncher. I expect Gamboa to win easier than Lopez. Especially because Lopez was asking to go up n weight 3 fights before facing Mtagwa. I honestly think making the waight was just too hard for Lopez. But Mtagwa is very tough, so lets see.....

just because he's gotten knocked down doesn't mean he has a shaky chin. getting knocked down and getting hurt are 2 different things. its because he fights so recklessley because he's so gifted. when he gets knocked out by 1 punch then maybe he has a shaky chin. but its not going to happen.

I've seen Gamboa down, but not hurt. I won't say he has a weak chin just yet, so no I don't think we'll see Mtagwa shattering Gamboa's jaw.

I dont think tonights that night but I do believe Gamboa has Lineares or Khan wrote all over him. Wait until JuanMa times him with some straight lefts its going to be ugly.
