] Niiiice. Any other world-class guys that he trains, or can anyone fill me in on what he emphasizes?
I don't know how much affect the trainer will have on Gamboa. Gamboa's manager already claims that Gamboa knows everything about boxing and doesn't need someone to teach him boxing.
:-( Maybe a new manager would do him good too. Boxers are continously learning. To say otherwise, proves his LACK of knowledge. Even guys like Bernard Hopkins was still learning in the latter stage of his career. What a ****ing fool (sorry bout the over-reaction)
Google Orlando Cuellar and read the first link. Actually I read this article last week digging for info on Eromosele Albert (not exactly an auspicious omen for a trainer being brought in to work on defense). Bottom line, don't expect Cuellar to effect sweeping changes with Gamboa. Given Gamboa's talent level and flaws, this is a very tame choice of trainers.
I don't think anyone would get through to Gamboa, just read some articles on him and how he's been since turning professional. He's highly arrogant and believes he knows it all, already. They could get any trainer in to work with him and unless he can physically step in the ring and best Gamboa, I doubt Gamboa will pay attention. Gamboa is one of those guys that believes he's unbeatable.
:huh The last article I read about him he was VERY professional. He was asked about a fight with Pacman and he said something along the lines of "Pac is a fantastic fighter and I would love to fight him, but I don't have a big enough name for him yet" If anything I have been hearing **** from his manager that isn't right; such as "Yuri knows boxing, he doesn't need to be taught boxing" :yikes
"Pac is a fantastic fighter and I would love to fight him but I don't have a big enough name" is different to what most would say at Gamboa's point in career "Pac is a fantastic fighter and I would love to fight him once I have more victories under my belt and have learnt a little more" is the usual sentiment of prospect fighters.. Articles tend to make him out as a highly motivated trainer, but one set in his ways.. Gamboa will not learn much more from this point on in his career, lets hope he just remembers to use what he's learnt (his defense is good when he uses it)
wowowowowooww ur avatar :good:good:good:good:good:good WHO IS THAT WOW :dead:dead:dead:dead:dead:dead
I am thinking that he will be completely shelled for his flaws in saturdays fight, im sure he's hearing all about it every minute of every day, and that will (hopefully) motivate him to work hard and fix them. Plus theres nothing like starting with a clean slate (new trainer)
Or conversely he could just do what others are doing and point out that he was hardly hurt, got straight back up and dominated his opponent therefore no worries. If he's doing that, he could be in trouble later on - god knows he's a shortass for the weight class he's struggling to make.
