    Round 2

Pettis is tossing very predictable combos, all swallowed up in the high guard of Jones. When he goes to Jones' body he is either blocked on the points of Jones' elbows or just nicks his waistband. He does do well when he doubles up on hooks to the body leaning over to his left, usually landing at least one of the pair. Pettis setting nothing up well with a jab, just walking in the front door and then pawing up with a double jab feint only to telegraph a slow right hand straight down the middle and get blocked. Jones jabbing Pettis whenever he sees an opening, biding his time. Just before the bell Jones drills him with a 1-2 in the side of the brainpan.

    10-9 Jones

    20-18 Jones

Mike Tyson...David Tua.....Roy Jones......those 3 men meant so much to me as a young man. This is tough to watch but I'm here rooting for Roy regardless.

    Round 3

Pettis is walking Jones down, pressure without punches, just staying in tight and feinting with the jab. Pettis drives him in a corner and slams a few hard left hooks into the body. Jones with some slick steps in and out scoring jabs or pull-counter rights, and then doubles up on his own left hook downstairs coming in. Pettis with a heavy right hand, caught on the arms but knocking Jones bodily back into the ropes. Pettis puts up his left glove floating in the air and Jones extends his right glove, still in the orthodox stance but using the rear hand like a jab, playing pattycake with Pettis. Flurries up top and body shots by Pettis.

10-9 Pettis, just way too little from Jones again and Pettis actually did make consistent clean contact in this one

    29-28 Jones

29-28 Jones for me. His knees are so stiff - can't really get his legs into his shots anymore. But he's still reasonably quick with his hands.

Is this one of Roy's raps (one of the more obscure ones, which is to say any "deep cut" that isn't Can't Be Stopped) playing between rounds?

Thanks for taking the time to summarise this. Something to mildly entertain me during the last hour of my last night shift.

I like it more when Roy comes forward behind a responsible high guard and throws short shots from that guard, rather than trying to imitate his former uber-athletic self.

    Round 4

Pettis is getting timed with the 1-2 circling outside. Jones dialing in, starting to move forward and not letting him get his motor going. Jones slipping jabs with head movement and diagonal bows halfway down, bobbing to either side and threading in counter jabs. Jones carrying his fists low, baiting Pettis. Lots of level changes by Pettis, riding an elevator, squatting and straightening, then a jab feint and overhand right stepping in. Jones with a bolo punch to avoid the ropes, missing narrowly and then stepping back to the ropes as Pettis blasts his guard.

10-9 Jones, competitive but clearly bossed for long enough.

    39-37 Jones

    Round 5

Pettis is reaching up with the jab, then a 1-1-2. Jones denying him any touches, standing up tall with a stingy guard. Jones gets fancy, trying to slip shots with chin turns and lean back with his hands down, but one shot from a Pettis four piece gets through and clips him. Jones responds instantly with a shovel hook. Jones clumps his wrists and palms together flat, and looms over Pettis, who ignores the well protected head and goes for the body. Jones with some twitch feints with his lead left shoulder, making Pettis react and then jabbing him in the face. Pettis takes a page out of Roy's playbook with a gazelle hook and just misses. Jones turning him and landing right hand leads off his chest. Jones fakes a left jab motion after carrying his left down by his knee but instead throws another right.

    10-9 Jones

    49-46 Jones

MMA knuckleheads on Twitter of course have Pettis up. "Showtime is schooling him! :roto2lol:" ...okay, boys.
