    1. Hire a conditioning coach. He needs someone to help him with pure cardio. Lets start training at high Mountain altitudes in August, September and October. He needs to be running stairs with a weighted vest, he needs to run intrevals, and he needs to be running 5-7 miles every morning. He needs to run laps backwards and forwards, and get in superior physical condition, and get down to a healthy 152. No more Tecate. No more ****ing the sexy Ring Girls. No more champagne. More treadmill. More cardio-cycle. More wind sprints.

    2. Hire a Buddy McGirt or someone in that caliber, for DEFENSIVE TRAINING. He needs to work on evading and blocking punches. He blocks too many shots with his face. He needs to learn to parry, and dodge, and slip punches. He needs to block a lot better. The double ended bag would work wonders.

    3. A STRENGTH trainer. He is 6'0. He has his Dad's heart, but is built like a tall 8th grader. Lets start hitting the weights. Mackie Shilstone could easily be used. Lets get into Kettlebell training, and start working on Core Strength, as well as pure power, in the bench, the squat and the deadlift. I want to see Julio do some sit ups with a 45 pound plate.

    4. Let the kid have a break from the ring, and lets concentrate on his power and his cardio and his defense. Lets whip him into FIERCE condition. No tv appearances, he is in camp.

    5. NOW in November, we set him up against Hector Jr. Not on PPV. Maybe ESPN 2 or Telemundo. We invite Vanda to fight on the same card. The Hector Jr. fight is a confidence builder, to see if my theories work. If he has a lackluster performmance, than maybe his heart isnt in it. If he looks like a Mexican King Kong, than it's time for the Vanda rematch.

Correct. I'd love to see him with a Floyd Sr. or perhaps a Jesus "El Professor" Rivero. Someone who isnt a yes man.

The guy who used to train Fernando might be a perfect fit. Kind of heavyset Latino man, white hair and moustache.

How about Nacho Beristain? The best trainer in Mexico.

I think his name is Eduardo Garcia. He would be perfect, and it wouldnt hurt to have Julio train and "espirinar" in the ghetto ass part of LA kind of like Rocky did in Rocky 3.

If Julio has 1/2 the pro career that Fernando did, he will be great!

I'd agree, but the fighters he trains, the likes of Juan Manuel Marquez, Rafa Marquez and Abner Mares, are technicians. Not sure about Mares as I haven't seen much of him, but JMM and Rafa still have flaws on the defensive front.

But other Beristain fighters Ricardo Lopez, Gilberto Roman & Daniel Zaragoza were fine defensive fighters. But you know the old saying"You can lead a horse to water" Juan & Rafa are just all out action fighters.
