More bad luck and extreme disappointment for Ganoy...his visa application was rejected by the US embassy yesterday.

Can Ranee catch any more bad luck?

Why would it be rejected for??:think

Is there something we dont no about in his past or something.
Took Michael Katsidis a while to get his visa application through.

No Kegs, it's just the way the system is.

The US embassy weren't satisfied that Ganoy had enough "evidence" to show that he would return to Australia. In other words, they considered him too high a risk of staying in the US. This was despite Ranee presenting an invitation letter from the promoter showing his purpose of travel and intended length of stay.

Filipinos have a terrible reputation for over staying visas. That wouldn't have helped. But damn, a professional sportsperson with reasonably high visibility shouldn't be considered high risk. I mean, it's not like he was going there as a tourist. Plus, he was well grounded here in Oz having been here for the best part of 3 or 4 years.

I know something about immigration and the way these things operate. I was a customs officer for 11 years before joining the fire brigade and my missus is filo. We went through alot of hoops to get her visa. Immigration, embassys...they are ruthless. Sure they need to be, but they don't seem to judge every case individually and on it's merits. They stereotype. And it's wrong.

You could count on one hand the number of filipino's here on tourist visas. They just don't allow them. I guess the US immigration dept have a similar view when it comes to filipinos and granting visas.

But some ***** in the US embassy has just cost this boy a chance to make a name for himself and earn some money. That's the bottom line.

He'll bounce back. As previously mentioned, it took Mick a long time to get in with his crim history. Maybe Red Corner/Ace can bring out some opponents out here that will continue to up his rankings. If not, he'll just have to keep defending his Pan Pac strap.

Red Corner/Ace have done a terrific job progressing Ranee but he really needs to step up his comp now.

This fight was an IBF #2 eliminator and was a great opportunity for Ganoy to showcase himself on US tv against a guy with a good record and plenty of ko's. Redcorner/Ace just can't get Ranee these type of fights, it's just not within there budget.

And you really need to sign with a promoter who has got tv dates in the US if you want to make money and get in to a position to challenge for a belt. Tony Holden Promtions, the promoter for this fight seemed a good fit. they offered a 3 fight deal so hopefully they don't lose interest.

We'l just have to see what's next. Surely it's a change of luck.

    And isn't it just pathetic?

If I was in the interview, I would have said "you want assurance Ranee will return?...here, take my kidney!"
