[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]Newly crowned WBA light heavyweight champion Danny Green was officially informed on Wednesday that he will have to face official challenger Hugo Garay from Argentina no later than April 16, 2008. Green captured the WBA Light Heavyweight title after defeating Croatias Stipe Drews last December 16th in Australia. this should be a good fight this dude had 2 cracking fights with Zsolt Erdei about 2 years or so ago for the WBO LHW title; he lost both times but only by MD i think. I watched one on sopcast and the other on youtube. Worth a look if you can find them
What? He's from Argentina and doesnt drive cabs??? you for real?? or maybe he's just a really good cab driver...
he is a really good cabbie :yep one of those silver service ones where they wear a tie and drive a statesman
"They call him the spiderman, right? Well im going to hit him high, hit him low, hit him with a bit of the old PeaBo" i only just remembered Green saying that - it was a crack up
Yeah that was pretty clever. Garay aint no slouch, aint no taxi driver as well. Is definite top 12 at Light Heavy, prob borderline top 8 to 10. Ring Mag have him at 10.:deal
good chin and pretty aggressive from what i can remember - should be a good scrap. Danny should win on points but it will be a tough fight no question
Garay is a very strong pressure fighter, non-stop action and power punching through 12 rounds... just like Green :good He fought Erdei twice, I saw both... as far as I remember Garay could prepare only 3 or 4 weeks before the first one (the original opponent for Erdei was someone else). That was a close fight, Erdei controlled it for 9 rounds but then he ran out of gas and Garay won the last 3-4 rounds. I had it 116-112 for Erdei. The following year there was a rematch which was even closer. I had it a draw, but many people gave it to Garay, since he was more active, still, with less clean shots. Erdei's defence is the best in the divison I think, so that is no surprise. But he pressed the action all night long... in the USA Garay could have won the fight. All in all, Garay is a strong fighter, with very good handspeed and very high workrate, he is surely one of the most underrated fighters in the divison. He would beat Woods and maybe Erdei as well now. Green must be 200% to beat him, it will be a huge fight, a slugfest.
Thanks Daft p, sounds like its goin to be a ripper of a fight!! So banker said Garay has a good chin. Do you agree? Have you seen him rocked or wobbled before? Id like to bet on this fight when it happens, odd should be good for both fighters.
Yeah this sounds good, a challenge Mmmmmmmm got to love a challenge. I hope Danny tones down the Green theme a bit for his next fight, he was looking a bit like a milo tin when he came out to fight Stipe :hi:
The mohawk thing with the Mundine fight :barf Now the milo look alike, what next for the Green Machine?
