Garcia bad footwork will be his undoing in that fight IMAO. He has solid chin but he was hurt numerous times against Zab. It will be a hell of fight in the center of the ring both fighters going to the body and punishing each other. I would slightly favor Lucas in this type of fight I think he is wrong style wise for Garcia.
sounds about right. danny is young (25?) but not green. after the first round of the khan fight, garcia started timing khan's speed rushes fairly impressively (i don't agree that khan was handling him clear up until a lucky garcia punch, as so many like to say). one thing for sure, danny has to get his respect from matthysse early- body shot, left hook, whatever- danny better train for an early burst in the fight. he should be sparring hard for the first three rounds against strong welterweights (which he can do). this fight is a go, right?
speaking about sparing hard any idea who are Lucas sparring partners they have to be some tortured JMWs to survive this power. The fight is just considered for now, not a go.
i don't know. 'may be some tortured middleweights too. if this fight doesn't happen in september.. matthysse-garcia.. next.. :fire wtf man. hearns and leonard got together in september easy as you please.
Just checked myself his chief sparing partner was Sebastian Lujan who is an average WW. He was sparing Abregu to who is a solid WW for the Alexander fight. But yeah most of them are average JWWs, WWs I don't know how they survived with him. Apparently he had a crazy sparing session with Rios.
I wouldnt right danny off so easily. He has a solid chin and was hurt once against zab and not serious
It would be interesting because Lucas drops his right so much...open to Garcia's left hook But Garcia is the better boxer? How? Lucas moves, bobs weaves, moves in and out, throws hard as shots to the body and is out of range. Dude looks so ****ing comfortable in that ring. If you look at Garcia's knockdown out Judah he planted his feet and just wildly swung both his left and right arms, after turning Judah around, so much that it was almost Judah's tied feet and Garcai's pushing power, not the punch, that knocked Judah down. He got up immediately. Also Danny won't KO shitt. He's not a knockout puncher. Khan and Morales 2 were sloppy, poor planned in in Morales' case over the hill fighters. This dude went the distance will Holt, Theophane, and a beer bellied Eric Morales less than three years ago. A moving Judah to the end of the fight, was using Garcia's face as target practice with straight lefts. If anything Garcia's counterpunching style is the most dangerous factor here, but Lucas is very good at protecting/pressuring himself. He doesn't stand in front of guys, he ducks, bobs and weaves really close to their chest where they can't put much power and counters to the body while coming in. I don't think Garcia will time him as easily as he did with a static Khan and Morales or have enough pop to land such a low and close left hook to his own body. Even Khan was he was moving and circling Garcia for most of the first three rounds were ducking Garcia's left hooks and comboing him up. Look at Garcia's face at the end of those three rounds. I would love to see this match. I think Garcia is the less polished fighter and and would get TKO'd if not knocked down and hurt after taking some serious body punishment. His best chance would be to wait and counter Lucas hard to the body in the early rounds, not start out fast. Then get to moving pot shotting and dancing, what boxers actually do. I think Matthysse reminds me of a better version of Rosario, with much better movement and inside work, shorter crisper punches, better ring IQ and I don't see Danny going 'head first' to Matthysse's chest TKO 9 Matthysse
Garcias father will do what ever it takes to keep his son away from Lucas, which is why I believe they had that little stint with Mayfield... They will take that Mayfield fight rather than face the under taker... Lucas will knock this kid out just as easy as he did Peterson.
