This is exactly what happened. If Peterson wouldn't have been on his bicycle he could have won this thing.
These kind of fights was my purpose for this thread: http://www.boxingforum24.com/showthread.php?t=495816 While Peterson kicked Garica's butt in that fight, over the 10 point must system you can see it for Garcia (although I had Peterson winning).
I see what you're saying but to me there were was no way I could give 7 rounds to Garcia. I suppose some people could under a certain criteria but I would take serious issue with the way those people score rounds. But of course I agree it's frustrating that a man can win 6 rounds big and lose 6 true swing rounds and come out with a draw.
Yeah. I think the cries of robbery in the Pacquiao-Marquez 3 fight was because of something similar. Marquez won about 5 rounds big, whereas you could make a case for Pacquiao narrowly edging the rest.
Close fight in which if you you really think about it, is the only time judges are really needed. Yet, ironically, is the time when people most don't wanna listen to them..
Ya that's a good example. It frustrates me to no end that judges (particularly in fights held in the US) are so hesistant to score even rounds. If two guys walked to the center of the ring and stared at each for 3 minutes without throwing a punch the judges would rather give the round to the man who appeared to be staring more aggressively than just score it 10-10. Another issue that's bothered me for a while is how a knockdown seems to always result in a 10-8 round for the fighter who scores the KD. I've never been of the opinion that if one man clearly wins 2:45 seconds of a round but is caught with a shot while off balance and his glove touches the canvas that he should lose that round 10-8.
Peterson won when the fight is looked as a whole But when scored round by round, it gives garcia a good chance of winning especially some of the early rounds where there wasnt much leather added by either fighter, at least garcia was trying to make a fight, lamonst seemed content with just making garcia miss at expel energy but not attack too much. His jab hardly touched garcia early (rounds 1-3). But when the fight is looked as a whole and in particular how it ended, it can be seen that petersons gameplan was 100% successful and he acheived everything he wanted to do. Made garcia miss earlqy and punished garcia late on. Garcia on the other hand had very little success throughout the whole fight. But be ause boxing is scored round by round, garcia could sneak a draw or victory based on those close rounds early on - where some judges might see peterson being negative and only garcia making a fight (even though that would be a shallow intepratation of scoring). Iverall i would say it cant be called a robbery..., but in my view only one fighter was successful and at the end only peterson could be viewed as a winner. A close but clear win for peterson in my view
I first had it a draw . After rewatching it and paying close attention . Peterson clearly won the fight . Garcias body language tells you he lost the fight .
