Alrighty.. So after more research, it IS part of Riyadh Season and Turkey is involved.. Now the awaited price tag. Maybe only $29.99 since the Canelo fight will assuredly be over $50 the next night and won't order it if it was $5 because who cares about him KOing a very poor contender in Scull....
I'm almost certain that all Turki fights will be priced at $30 in the US. That's what I recall him stating on record anyhow. I'm definitely looking forward to the Ryan card, but am curious to find out which card will do better numbers...
If you find a roof too bar in times square it will be the first time anyone has found a rooftop bar in times square in maybe 2 centuries. I'd like to see this fight and assuming it's fairly priced I'll buy it as I have zero interest in Canelo-Skull.
Well maybe not a rooftop but something elevated where there is a clear view depending on how they arrange the ring and banners and seating
I'm likely buying both. I've been getting ripped off by boxing for too long to start worrying about it now.
He has 10 % stake in DAZN aswell. This card is under the Ring banner....which is Turki's. This is his show.
Sure, but thats just wasteful. If they are paying Ryan Garcia 20 million for a fight, then whats the point in putting any of these fight on PPV? There is no way they are making any of that money back. Garcia vs Romero alone would demand close to a million PPV buys just to break even. If they are willing to take such losses, then I genuinely don´t see why they would put these fights behind a paywall.
Wasteful for you. They dont care. The point isnt to make money now but built a foundation in order to do so in the future. They know they are taking losses now. And they dont care.
So why put the fights behind a paywall? I know they are fine with taking losses, but IMO there is clearly a limit to it. If they truly did not care about the money then these fights would be on regular DAZN, for maximum exposure.
What system, a PPV one? Uh, sure, maybe. I am still not buying it. The whole idea is supposed to be to get butts in Saudi seats. Putting these fights behind a PPV seems counterproductive to that goal.
I honestly don't believe Ryan is getting paid $20 million, but for some reason, that amount has gained a lot of traction on the internet. It is clear that Turki isn't hosting these Riyadh fights to make money, but I would guess the reason for the paywall is to mitigate some of the losses that he is incurring. The reason that Turki and the Saudis are willing to spend all this money is to boost tourism to SA and the new boxing league that TKO will be exclusively promoting. But many believe the underlining reason is Sports Washing.
