Porter ate flush shots all night and couldn't land anything clean himself. He was apprehensive of Danny's power and didn't risk bum rushing him like he did his previous foes. Now, granted Garcia could have pressed the issue a little more, and maybe use the uppercut who was there for him all night, but all in all i thought this was a close but clear victory for him. It looked like a Danny Garcia fight, not a Porter one.
I thought so too, 7 rounds to 5 for Danny, or even a draw was plausible. Just don’t see how porter won that fight, especially 8-4 when Danny arguably won the first 3.
I scored it a draw. One judges score of 116 - 112 for Porter was not reflective of the fight but the two 115 -113 scores were within reason. Good fight !
I had it a draw, or Porter 7-5. Garcia can only blame himself. He never shows urgency, and stops punching for portions of fights for some reason. That's on him. Good to see him not get the nod, and be rewarded for being lacadaisical. He was the better puncher, when he let his hands go, his shots were the crispier shots. **** him though, he fights in an entitled manner, probably due to getting the bogus decision wins over Herrera and Peterson that he shouldn't have gotten. If he wants to win fights, he better fight his arse off for the full 12 rounds, or shut the **** up afterward, talking about he should have gotten the nod.
I NEVER, EVER want to see Porter fight again (unless it's Spence who will KO him). Garbage, unwatchable style.
This. I gave the first 5 rounds to Danny, but by the 6th round he stropped throwing punches and pretty much gave the fight away to Porter and dropped 7 straight rounds. Danny lost fair and square.
Porter also intentionally came in with his head and asked Garcia 'You mad?'. Porter isn't impressive at all to me. He's a rough guy in incredibly good shape who gets by on 'activity'. Dude misses a lot, technique is poor, gets hit a lot and is overall unimpressive.
Thought it was a drew. At most Porter only won by 1 rd. Doesn't matter if you throw more punches and its catching on the globes/missing.
You saw EXACTLY what the issue is and will always be with Danny Garcia. His hand speed and foot speed are NOT world class. Why do you think his manager calls everyone he fights "runners"? Because he has to have them right in front of him to score. He moves around the ring like the Mummy and Crawford or Spence will box him into oblivion just like Thurman did. I don't dislike Garcia but those are the facts
I wince every time Danny jabs to the body. That thing looks painfully slow. No one has made him pay yet, but guys like Pacquiao, JMM, and Floyd would batter him. Crawford would as well.
Close but Porter won on aggression, controlling the space in the ring, higher activity, more telling body punches. Garcia had none of the above going for him. End of story.
