I dont know about Wood style, but he'll need one if he is to fight overseas - because blokes like Wood are a dime a dozen, hes easy work for rated fighters. Geale would have an easy time with Wood.

Well done Garth,did what a lot of others couldnt,as ugly as his style,he still won contender,beat a few good fighters on the way and embaressed Choc.

 

Got to agrue with Ram Rod should have been disqualified. Same with when he fought Oganov he did except bodyslam him.

 

2 b honest, Garth Wood has got the best out of what he has, you have to give him and Billy credit.

 

Jeffry has been following around anyone he can find that will get in the ring with Mundine so he can be the bloke in the corner when someone finally defeats Mundine. Garths footwork was horrible and everyone that ive spoken to that has watched it has commented in a polite manner and said "Gee his style is weird and so is his footwork" i respond and say yeah he looks like a spastic.

How can you credit ANYONE for his style other than Garth? it hasnt changed since the contender.Where exactly does one teach someone to fight like a spatic with hopless footwork, incorrect hand posture, constant fouling, tackling, hitting behind the head and then claim to be one of the best trainers in this country? please lol anyone thats near Fenech is a joke and most likely a theif that steals watches and fixes fights. lol

 

garths stance and style are funny yes,but theres no use in trying to alter it..im sure he will get better as time goes on.team wood are now in the same position as team green.
they have a charge that can make a lot of money for everyone and have some fun in the meantime...he just beat mundine,that means he can cherry pick all the way to a world title....and fenech has the contacts to achieve this goal....

We have to use some perpective here.
Garth was a gym visitor. They dragged him out of a bender to make up the numbers.
This not my knowledge. It's the story his father told.

I expect that it was a significant part of the contender process (Given Khodars obsession with easybeats) to give him some latitude.

He beat Choc. So what? Garth is a nobody in boxings scheme of things so if Choc wants to come back, it will be a nothing loss.

Having said that, If choc retires,. that will also be a nothing loss.......
& "Style" is not word I would use for the way Garth fights at present. He's a flat out brawler.

You'ld see more style in a pub carpark on a full moon.
