Garth Wood is scheduled to fight Johannes Mwetupunga on August 31st for the vacant IBF Pan Pacific middleweight title.

This would appear to be a tough assignment for Wood, and a loss would likely leave him in boxing limbo.

Wood did himself proud in both his bouts against Mundine IMO, and immediately prior to Mundine II there was talk Garth Wood might fight Felix Sturm, Danny Green etc.

Those that I've spoken to think Mwetupunga will beat Wood.

How do others here see this bout panning out, and where would a loss leave Garth?

Mwetupunga should box rings around Garth with his skills & size.
If Garth comes in top condition & applies lots of pressure Mwetupunga wont like it at all.
That being said i lean to Mwetupunga on decision...maybe technical decision as Garth's fights come with lots of headbutts & Garth cuts easy so 12 rounds might be too much to ask.

Would'nt like to bet on this fight. Too many variables. Skill wise,Mwetupunga by a mile but if the ref allows Wood to turn it into a semi cage fight then its even money. As Kegsy said, butts and cuts could see this end early. Onr thing for sure it's going to be ugly.

Garth always comes fit and ready to fight Kegs. It's going to be a tough gig for him though, and if he happens to lose, I don't know where they go from there?

Still, at least the bank balance is already healthy, and he'll always have bragging rights that he KOed you-know-who.

Im sure Souths could use another back considering all the injuries they have had over the last few seasons.

    Bring back Garth!!!

Who would seriously spend money to watch GW fight? Or waste 48 minutes of life watching him hug blokes on TV?
