Garth Wood did himself proud in both his bouts against Mundine IMO. For a guy who emerged out of nowhere, and with very little experience behind him, he was able to get under Mundine's skin at the press conference and take that confidence into the first fight, resulting in a 5th round stoppage win. At the second presser, like the first, Wood was able to upset Mundine again, and this time to the point where insults were flying and some push and shove followed. He didn't get up in the rematch. But I think it's fair to say he had nothing left in the tank at the completion of 10 rounds. Prior to Mundine II there was talk Garth Wood might fight Felix Sturm, Danny Green etc. Here we are a couple of months on though, and it seems we haven't heard boo out from the Wood camp. Where to next for Wood from The Hood?
Johannes Tito Mwetupunga is listed on Barry Michael's card (with opponent TBA) for first week of August, in Melbourne. Tito lives in Melbourne, so I guess it's a possibility?
Geale should give him a crack while he waits for the 4 man IBF tourny to finish up? Or Wood should take on a top local MW, mabey Jamie Pitman? Would be a good slug
Wood is now in no-man's land to some degree. Do they just go for the fight that'll bring the best return? Or do they look for a fight more likely to lead somewhere? Pittman is an interesting suggestion. But Pittman is classy and Garth has never fought a southpaw. Pittman is also already listed on the Dib vs Lacierva card, 29th July, at Homebush. Opponent TBA.
Geale would take nothing out of the fight... if it happened. (vs Wood) Ya don't drive the track on a skateboard, when training for Bathurst. Geale should just keep mixing with internationals. Tito will flog Wood.
I reckon Tito vs Wood has the potential to be a decent stink, Garth has the "style" to give anyone fits
Yeah i always liked Pitman, very handy fighter. Didnt know he came back at super middle? Still wouldnt mind seeing him and wood go at it:bbb
:good Good comparison Mabey a Peter Manfredo kinda fight? A ranked opponent, but i hear his working in dunkin donuts these days, no joke?
