I think theres every chance he'll have a soft defence after that fight. Bunce was saying last night that its the British way, its not. Its the boxing way.

 

Congrats Ricky and Billy, as much as I hate to say Billy's advice in the corner seemed top notch to me as did the game plan he devised for burns.

 

Classy.

 

Fair play to Ricky Burns and Billy Nelson.

The first thing that shocked me was how big Ricky was at 135! He was a beast. And boxed to a gameplan. We knew Katsidis was slightly over the hill going into this fight but it's still a very good win for Burns.

I picked Katsidis inside 6 rounds but Rickys defence was just too tight.

 

Excellent performance. I basically called the fight correctly beforehand in terms of Ricky's range and volume holding sway early on, but not knowing whether Burns could keep his composure late on and keep it together. Well he did. Excellent boxing.

I think it's selling Burn's short a bit to call Katsidis shot. He's always been one-dimensional and fights in spurts against guys who can fight well on the outside. Burns was just alot better than Mitchell at knowing when to cover up and when to counter; constantly mixing it up. Almost punch perfect.
