He had already lost the Pavlik fight before getting in the ring, he wanted the pay day, but in reality the desire wasn't there.

yeah, and ultimately that's not much good for boxing is it. One of the Welsh lads on here indicated he walked around town giving it the billy big bollocks routine. Still, the property downturn will have seen to pumpkin head's Pavlik purse.

He retired a few weeks after the Pavlik fight :huh
Why would you announce your retirement twice :?
He made his money so good luck to him.
Like has already been said I would have liked to have seen him fight more domestic rivals and go that route but it doesn't work like that with Sports Network boxers.

The property market downturn wont effect Gary much as he can just sell his WBU title :hey

Anyone who thinks that all fighters do it for love is a ****ing moron. All fighters want big money...

Don't blast Gary for being honest. And he didn't quit in the Pavlik fight. Enzo threw the towel in.

Sure...but I do think his disdain for boxing means he'll never be embraced and remembered as other UK boxers.

I can't fault him for making his cash and getting out with his brains intact but he won't be around the sport, and he won't be missed. Which is also harsh but true.
