8 rounds @ middleweight, in the sophomore boxing event at the Encore Boston Harbor Casino (which is technically in a shithole called Everett, just north of Boston...whatever...) - promoted, as was the venue's inaugural event in July, by Murphy's Boxing. I'm not sure if there is any TV or streaming arrangement in place. I might go in person; if so I'll film it. This is Spike's third outing since David Lemieux blitzed him nearly a year ago. Marocchi - a 42 year old Argentinian glass cannon - seems like a big step down from Khiary Gray-Pitts, whom Spike kayoed in March. This is shaping up to be a slow crawl back up the mountain for the body-slugging Irishman, now in his mid thirties...
Totally agree. I'll ve honest though, I was blown away by how easily he walked Gray-Pitts down and overwhelmed him. Khiary is a lot better than his record indicates. Sidenote -- painting the Encore Casino was one of the last big project jobs I worked on before I ended up where I am right now. IB is right, total heap of **** of a place, but still better than that miserable armpit across the Mystic.
...OTOH, against Gábor Görbics he looked like refried nutsack. https://www.boxingforum24.com/threa...-osullivan-vs-gábor-görbics-rbr.620707/page-2 Nobody runs hotter-and-colder than Spike..
Exactly. I'm biased but even if I wasn't, objectively speaking, Khiary is a much more talented boxer than Gorbics and more skilled. Spike had to decision him but guys like Fowler stopped him. I just dont get it.
Sitting on the sidelines might actually be preferable to wasting a whole camp just to bulldoze through a Marocchi.
Nothing against Spike hes fun watch but I'll eat a hat if he ever picks up a signature victory. I think the best bet of earning a win of note(somewhat anyways)is a domestic matchup down the line with the recently exposed Quigley.
Not to gratuitously toot my own cock nor suck my own horn, but... I did call Spike dominating El Animal before Quigley's recent exposure, nearly a year ago when he was still unbeaten & somewhat hyped... (from the Quigley vs. Freddy Hernández RBR thread...El Riel got robbed that night!)
I think it's a close fight. Quigley is the more talented but less hungry of the two. Quigley would almost certainly bag the early rounds before he starts to fade it's how much that's important here. Spike probably has to take him out during that stretch. 50/50
