Saturday in Castlebar, airing live on Ireland TG4. 8 rounds @ middleweight scheduled. ...now, I'm trying really hard to keep in perspective that Spike is coming off a brutal KO loss and this opponent was found on 4 days' notice (literally as of this same time yesterday Spike hadn't a clue for whom to be prepping) ...but yeeesh, a Hungarian? Granted, with a 26-13 (16) record and only five of those losses by stoppage - and with having gone the distance against some international competition with some modicum of name recognition (such as Daniyar Yeleussinov, Ahmed El Mousaoui, Radzhab Butaev, and Mark DeLuca) ...Görbics is effectively a legendary ATG in Hungarian boxing, and would be first ballot if they had a national hall of fame. Still, this is Spike's worst opponent in over three years, since David Toribio. For a one-off confidence builder stooping this low is fine but O'Sullivan has to swerve back into the fast lane soon if he wants to be taken seriously making one last run at contention in his prime. Görbics is as much below his level as he is below Lemieux's (never mind GGG or Canelo), possibly more.
