Relatively fun and competitive substitute match-up set for the next Murphy's Boxing card in Boston, on St. Patrick's Day weekend. O'Sullivan was originally to face Brazilian super middleweigbt glass cannon Gilberto Pereira "Yorubá" dos Santos, who is 41 years old with a 14-9 (10) record. Gray-Pitts is an upgrade in every single way, except for being undersized (a natural super welter instead of a 168lber like dos Santos). He is arguably better than anyone in Spike's win column to date, except maybe Antoine Douglas.

Neither man is currently ranked in any major org top 15. Both will be hungry to change that.

I can see O'Sullivan getting the stoppage but I'll vote for a points win

O'Sullivan's last fight, against Gabor Görbics:

Gray-Pitts' most recent uploaded fight, an MD loss to Greg Vendetti (his biggest step up in class to date) in 2017:

I'm going out on a limb and riding with the brother from Worcester, I mean, whats the worst that could happen? I lose again? I think I have one single win this year, picking an upset would be a good way to turn that around. That said he's way smaller than Spike and when hes focused, training, and active he is better than Douglas IMO, but is he disciplended enough outside the ring right now? Has he learned from past mistakes.

This is a big leap of faith, although he narrowly lost a decision against Vendetti, who is more skilled than Spike, hes nowhere near as physical and can't punch as hard and is physically smaller. Gray-Pitts was also TKO'd early by Ian Green wh is no world beat wr but is a big puncher, a natural MW and noticeably bigger than Pitts and a more explosive puncher than Spike -- though I do believe Spike is CLEARLY the MUCH HARDER PUNCHER between he and Green, their power is different with Spikes power being way more heavy handed and KO's most guys due to accumulation. But again, he should have a big size advantage over Gray-Pitts, and when thats the case, heavy handed power usually turns into one shot power. Gray-Pitts also lost a UD to Courtney Pennington recently.

Khiary was a very celebrated boxer coming out of the amateurs but like countless other professional athletes from Massachusetts, his problems outside the ring have had such an impact on his young career already that it can be viewed as nothing less than a massive let down. Khiary is a legitimately talented and skilled boxer and he can punch himself bit as a fighter hes a total enigma. Hes surely not KO'ing Spike unless he landslide absolutely perfect and totally loaded up on shot.

Gray-Pitts is an enigma, all the talents and gifts in the world but has so badly underachieved so many times in his young career and he is already known to have had serious outside the ring troubles which have partly if not promonently impacted his career for the worst to this point. Ive also heard hes real on and off with his focus, dedication, and training habits.

I dont care how much naturally bigger Spike is to Gray-Pitts, from what I've seen Gray-Pitts is clearly the more talented and gifted fighter and more skilled and layered. Smart money is on Spike O'Sullivan, but Khiary Gray-Pitts absolutely has it in him to wipe the floor with Spike. It's a long shot keeping in mind all of Khiary's intangible issues and what not but he's still a promoted and backed local guy that got this shot for a reason. If the perfect storm all comes together -- Khiary being able to stand up to Spike's size, power, and pressure, he trains his ass off and fights his ass off but also smart, he stays focused throughout camp and all fight long and has no problems/distractions outside the ring and his problems with inconsistency disappear for this fight...... HE LEGIT COULD PULL IT OFF. Add to the fact O'Sullivan is coming off a humiliating and brutal KO early in the first round and postal might just get back on track. Fun fact - a fighter Gray-Pitts and a plethora of other well known and highly regarded fighters have stopped is a kid named Chris Chatman, who is currently 15-9(6 losses by KO ut to all very good fighters)- and anywhere from 1-3 draws -- he's a kid I beat and knocked out in the amateurs. He boxed for the US Navy team and fought in the amateurs growing up on Chicago. But let me tell you -- his kid is the biggest loudmouth piece of **** ******* I have met, or close to it and hes a racist and he preys on the weak who dont stand up to him. I will say, as a pro hes done far better than I thought he would taking into account 6 of his losses(all by stoppage I think) were against undefeated guys at the time who were top prospects and I think all went on to win at least one championship belt and still to this day are undefeated champs. He actually has fought a really impressive array of great to elite fighters though hes been iced by all of them.

There is a young professional boxer born, raised, and fighting out of Worcester named Jamaine Ortiz. He's the one to watch from Worcester, best prospect to come from there since Edwin Rodriguez. Excellent amateur career, skills and speed. If you are from MA or New England and are into the local scene and like to follow local fighters/prospects, hes probably the best in MA.

Wish I could change vote to Gray-Pitts stoppage. I got a feeling. And hes so much faster and more explosive I can see him catching Spike with the perfect counter.

My buddy Mark DeLuc a is fighting on this card.

    WAR GRAY-PITTS AND DELUCA!!!!!!!
