This is actually a really good fight that NO ONE is calling for.

Russel has looked MUCH better since he took the Lomachenko boxing clinic, and has really turned himself into a marketable fighter. Moreso IMO than Loma.

I think Russel stops Rigo early, then Rigo claims it was from rabbit punches and that he was undersized.

That would be a stupid decision for GRJ if he would accept a fight with Rigo at 122. Is this a real possibility, or just something you want to see? If true, can you provide a link. Thanx

NO, just a pipe dream tbh.

GRJ could easily make the weight, and Rogs talking about dragging Loma S of FW.

Jr could make a huge name for himself making this fight and at the same time, should he win, which I think his combination of speed, power, and confidence in his infighting ability, would give him a huge boost in negotiating a rematch with Lomacheko.

And in all seriousnous, GRJ stands head and shoulders above the rest as Lomas best win.

Yeah, Walters was the bigger name, but GRJ was just hitting his stride when he fought Loma, and seemed less than confident to get his punches home.

A win over Rigo would serve GRJ well, and put his name right in there with the top 10,

Rigo kills him... fast hands on russell but after a few sharp counters you can be damn sure they wont leave his guard.

Loma gave him one hell of a beating and he survived that so i see a few interesting early rounds before rigo puts him in his shell and refuses to push him leading to a dominant but boring fight

I like Gary Russell, I think he's a talented fighter who has a promising trajectory to his career but he'd be foolish to come down in weight and fight Guillermo. Russell has an abundance of skills, no doubt, but Rigo is arguably one of the best technical boxers of the last 20 years. I'd favor him by decision.

Russel simply isn't in the class of Rigo.
    He will get outmatched.

Honestly I think GRJ would KO Rigo with a counter right hook at this stage.

    Why???
Russell is the faster fighter, and since his L to Loma, he's a much more assertive fighter.

Rigo's LONE top W came against Donaire, who most of us had been saying he'd was becoming a one handed fighter prior to the bout.
Russell is no one handed fighter, and is arguably just as strong as Nonito minus his L hook.

Not saying I'd pick Russell to destroy Rigo, but tbph, it's been since Nonito, yrs ago, that we last saw Rigo in with a talented fighter.
Russel otoh, has shown he's more than capable of rising to the top so long as his confidence is there.
V Loma, he was pulling his punches. VS Rigo....the threat of KO would be nill, esp considering the size discrepancy would be void.

Russell is faster but he's got short arms, and he's still primarily a boxer. Not only that his footwork isn't very good and and neither is his defense, what would happen is that Rigo would totally school him, he'd counter him a few times, kill his workrate and then proceed to thoroughly outbox him from the outside

I think Rigo would beat him even more comprehensively than Loma did.

I just don't see Rigs as all that, I think that Russell knocks him out.
