He's had 1 fight a year since 2015. He's got nothing planned for the rest of 2019, which means he's never going make any progress in his career at this rate. A good fighter, but so incredibly frustrating to be a fan of. Truly a waste of talent.
He refuse to stay busy. It's one thing to want the big fights, but u got to keep fighting until u land a big fight.
Loma took his spirit. I’m not trying to be hard on the guy but imagine, just imagine it. You’ve got all these people around you telling you how amazing you are and going on about your hand speed and technique and how you’re destined to be champ. Finally on your twenty fifth outing you get a shot at the vacant WBO title and some guy in his third pro fight does everything you do, only better, and just fcuking shames you. He threw some 800+ punches at Loma if I recall correctly and landed about ten percent. He got soundly beat, no matter the reason. Some people can recover from that and be better for it. Some can’t. Russell couldn’t.
I think you're reading too much into that fight. Russel Jr. could have easily continued his career afterwards. It's not like he took a beating, he just suffered a defeat. He doesn't make any effort to push his promoter for fights. I'd be pissed off if I'm in my prime and I fight only once a year. He could easily keep busy by fighting anyone who is willing to fight and he isn't making that effort.
What are you talking about? Other than salido he gave loma his best and toughest fight. He just doesnt love the sport and has gone on record saying such.
No he didn't loma won but it was no shutout. Russell jr made a good account of hinself and had some sucess against loma. You need to rewatch that fight. There was nothing easy about that fight for Loma.
I've seen it 3-4X. It's one of the greatest displays of bodypunching that I have ever seen in my life. At no point did Lomachenko ever look bothered, uncomfortable, in trouble, hurt, etc..
He doesn't like boxing and basically does just enough to eat. Problem is that he has to live a long time without boxing, and he has severely underachieved his potential.
It was a comfortable win for Loma. I'd say Linares, Pedraza, and Campbell gave Loma more issues. Russell jr. was just too short in stature. If they were both similar in dimensions, that fight likely ends up much differently.
