"My thing is that I'm just focused on me. Once again, I don't feel that there is anybody in my weight class who is as good as I am in the featherweight division. There's no one in the division who can beat me, and that includes Yuriorkis Gamboa,

or anyone else. But my main focus is to fight up to my own standards, which I feel is at a completely different level than everyone else."

I like his attitude, I just hope he doesn't over do it and start sounding like Amir Khan after a while

"Most definitely. I feel that I'm more well-rounded and I'm more technically sound than any fighter in any division all the way around. Whenever I perform, that's going to show. I expect to show up and be Gary Russell Jr. I feel as though, once again, that I'm not just the best fighter in my division, but that I'm going to someday be considered the best fighter, pound-for-pound, in the world."

    -Gary Russell Jr.

    Oh no he didnt!!!!

I need to watch more footage of this kid. Seems to be alot of hype surrounding him lately. How is his chin first of all? We see all these fast or powerful prospects coming up talking alot then 90% at the first sign of adversity fold.

Just a young fighter showing confidence in his abilities. Nothing wrong with that.

  10. The hype really came pouring in when Showtime showed a clip of Gary throwing a very fast combo w/ no power behind it.

I was looking over his record and i see no one of note.
Maybe he should beat someone first?

The young man certainly doesn't lack for confidence. However, he's not even fighting 10 round fights yet and he's 23 with 2 years experience.

What's wrong with that is, that they offered a fight with Franco (another Cuban Olympic) and he chose the guy that loss to him, if he can beat Gamboa he can beat Franco too. IMO that is not confindence, is talking out his A$$.
