My reply is basically what everyone has already stated here.

Also, you make zero sense, is English a second language for you?

Russell jr. is one of the smartest boxers. he fights once a year for around a million and takes no damage. assuming his finances are ok, he will be set for a comfortable life and retired before 40 with no consequences from the sport.
being a unification fight, its understandable he felt lowballed.

I'm with you. He's playing chess, not checkers. Of course I wish he fought more but this man's outplaying the "game" big time.

    Is he really though?

Gotta ask what he's boxing for? It's not the prestige of being a champion. I think we can rule that out. It's not for money, because he only gets about half his purse when all is said and done.

I think he's being coddled and highly overpaid by his promoter and GRjr is simply fine with having zero legacy as a pro boxer, and making only a fraction of what he could make. Which just seems to go against everything pro boxers compete for, the PRIZE and the fame. I feel, as a onetime big fan, GRjr is pretty much wasting everyone time.

Gary has not, and never will emotionally recover from the Loma fight.

even if he only gets half the purse, in three months he is making a lot more money than what most people make yearly and more than what 99% of boxers get. Russell jr puts his well being and comfort above legacy.

I guess. Still, he's pointless and useless for fans, as well as for boxing. Just holding a belt hostage is what he does.

Man you fight once a year. You will not get many more million dollar paydays. Dumb move.

There was a time when I thought "legacy" meant something, but "legacy" doesn't pay the bills and "legacy" doesn't mean anything if the fighter is 40 years old and in a nursing home, unable to take care of himself. I'd rather see a fighter make enough money, invest it well, live within his means, and retire healthy than fight "wars" all the time, party too much, blow the money, and end up as the guy that the kids in the neighborhood call "punchy."

There aren't many fighters who retired and live well. I hope GRJ is the exception. Like HolDat said, maybe he's playing chess, not checkers.

He has managers and a team around him to hope he makes the most money for the least risk.

As a boxing fan I wanna see the best fight the best in good competitive fights.

No, he's not playing anything but a part-time boxer. If money meant more to him, even TWICE a year fighting would double his pay. He hasn't even had a lot, if any, "wars" as a pro. He's been relatively unscathed for his entire career.

I was a big fan of his back when he started. Loved his speed and fluid technique. Then bumped in to Loma, and lost his heart or something.

If he wants to fight once a year, he should dump his belt and let guys who want to be champs fight for it. GRjr's existence in boxing is pointless for everyone but him.

Adrian Broner will stick around and eventually win a big fight he was supposed to lose, that future win plus his championships will be enough to get him to the HOF

All Broner has to do is to stay in shape and get paid doing what he likes to do...eventually he will get the HOF win

Broner as he is can move up to 154 and upset Tim Tszyu using his speed and durability, adding a 5th belt, because Broner didn't bulk up for the Tim Tszyu fight he can go down to 135 and take Gervonta Davis belt and fans.
