Gary Russell Jr. vs Mikey Garcia

If Haymon lets this bout be more than an 8 rounder, Mikey by late round stoppage around the 10th.

 

Damn, interesting match up, I think I'd take Mikey. But Russell Jr. fights a weight class above Mikey doesn't he?

 

Mikey Garcia is a future star and tough as nails with a great classic style. This would be an excellent match up. I think Russel would win a UD if he can survive the course of the fight with his speed and combinations. And if not, Garcia is going to break him down and take him out!

I anticipate this match up in the future when both are big names.

 

I'm gonna call for a Russell KO. I just see one of those uber fast combos doing some serious damage, and he likes to put on a show. Russell KO.

 

Is this another Top Rank-Golden Boy fight that is not likely to happen in the near future?

I really don't see this fight ever happening, but if it does go down I will pick Garcia as of right now. He'll struggle against Russell in the early rounds and slowley start getting his timing. By mid rounds their will be some even rounds, But I think Mikey will finally start getting to russel taking him into deep waters and stopping him late.

But in a couple more years, with Russell getting more fights under his belt, he just might be able to take out Garcia.

 

The fans. This would be a great fight featuring two future stars; the kind of fight that would get made in the 70s and 80s.

Right now, I'd take Russell. He's a little bigger, a little faster, and deceptively strong.
