Gary Shaw is an idiot, he doesn't have to admit anything for me to accept it. Of course it was wrong, holding constantly is never a good tactic when you're the world title challanger. Running is fine, as long as you still hit him, but hugging and doing no work on the inside while doing so is a big no no.

I think Dirrell relies to much on speed, reflexes, and athleticism, and not enough on actual boxing skills. If they can teach this kid to stay in the pocket and box and counter, he'll be a nightmare for most fighters to deal with. I agree that he could have stopped Froch if he had been more aggressive.

However, he won't have any opportunity to take some low risk fights and hone his skills. I can't stand Abraham. He's the single most over rated fighter on the planet, but I think Dirrell is just to sloppy. AA will eventually catch him with something big.

Admirable for Shaw to admit his feelings and to acknowledge the perceived mistakes of his fighter but it doesn't change the fact that his guy was robbed.

Agreed... maybe not trade necessarily, but I saw from very early on that his hand speed was so superior that he could've stood his ground more at center ring and unleashed more powershots. Had Dirrell done that he probably would've KOed Froch.

There was no need for all that running and excessive clinching he did. Something to work on for his future fights. Dirrell is a lot more talented than I first thought.

Dirrell won so no need to change anything. Dirrell would had to Ko Froch just to get a draw in England, sad but true.

The refereeing of the fight was perfect compared to the Hatton - Mayweather and Hopkins - Calzaghe fights. In those fights the same ref , allowed close up work in one ( where it favoured the American ) and did not allow any from the get go in the other ( where it favoured the Briton ). The USA is damn near impossible to get a fair shake in, whereas the last AMerican challenger prior to Dirrell in Nottingham was Tim Bradley ( did he get the KO and a draw ? or did he get a fair decision ? ). Dirrell could have won on Saturday, i think he will have learnt a lot, but fact is saturday night he ran, grabbed, held, complained, ducked below the waste, bitched, ran threw the odd jab, ran, ran, held, complained threw a nice combination and ran. Before the fight he was bigging himself up, making out he was superman, i am going to do this that and the other. Describing yourself like Tommy Hearns and turning up like Michael Nunn did himself no favours either. But i think we will see more of Dirrell , long term this defeat could be the making of him. It should give him confidence and experience.
