ALEX ARTHUR was left red-faced after he accidentally took Gilmerton light-middleweight Gary Young out of the reckoning for his own fight bill at Meadowbank.

The former WBO champion, who is running his first fight card on August 27, was sparring with Young when he landed a left hook which damaged his opponent's left rotator cuff.

"I'm gutted at doing this to Gary," said Arthur. "I'm probably the first-ever promoter to knock a boxer off the show with a punch." Arthur, who is in training to fight Georgian Aleksander Vakhtangashvili at Meadowbank, added wryly: "At least it confirms that my key left hook has lost none of its power - which I'm going to need."

Unbeaten capital middleweight John McCallum's opponent, Ryan Clark, has withdrawn from the bill and is replaced by Brighton's Ian Jackson for the six-round contest.
