i was at the fights and thought it was a cracking venue and a good nights boxing it was a shame for young carruwanna but overall some good bout mcmillian and young bout was very scrappy i dont think the ref was worried about the crowd he in my opinion had a good bout bearing in mind mcmillian was the home boxer and could have taken the easy option and gave a draw of even a home win . also i believe mcmillian manager and the press thought young won by two rounds . so i dont think it was a robbery i think it about everyone opinion i personally thought young won. also thought badger had a good win how he makes the weight he nearly six feet yet on 9 stone well done badger
I dont think McMillans manager was capable of watching that fight - as someone else witnessed & commented he was sh1tfaced ! Gary Mc, you can hang your head high...in your heart you know you won ! Results like this make you a better, stronger and tougher fighter!
i agree with labc about young mcmillian it will make him stronger he not a bad boy he needs to stop holding so much he must have been 7inches bigger than young yet wanted to hold where if he box him he would have won . i think alot of praise should go to young though not boxed for over two years yet stepped in when offered this bout he could have said no and went an easier way he look out of sorts at the start but was jabbing and boxing very good at the end billy nelson maybe correct about mcmillian winning by two rounds so why would the referee give it the other way surely the home fighter gets the advantage and why have the press supported the result the edinburgh evening news think young won sometimes you have just accept that it not your day good luck to young mcmillian
Young wasnt his best but I think he is better than he showed last night, 2 years out the ring and staight into a 10 rounder when you have not even done 10 rounds before is a hard task, I do think he should give McMillan a rematch, McMillan is the type of laddie who will be talking about how he got robbed 10 year's up the road.
Alex Morrison was too pissed to be sitting there scoring the fight! The only rounds that were going through Morrison's head were the ones he paid for in the bar before the fight started! :cheers :tired
For those of you who are given ref paul graham a hard time// Young Couldn't get his work rate going as mcmillan held, grabbed and spoiled.. Also Paul Graham repeatedly pulled up McMillan for use of the head and you could see that he was getting frustrated with the scappy-ness of the fight. So I actually scored alot even but Def Young by 2 Rounds, Also members from the press agreed that Mcmillan made the fight ugly! It was an Awkward Fight and by no means an oscar winning performance from Gary Young - but he wasn't the home fighter.. and Mcmillan was the Favourite, the home fighter and his sponsor was the main sponsor of the show.. if he'd done enough to Win - He would have.. but he held, and wanted to wrestle.. half way through the fight i was asked " how do you see it going?" i said it's scrappy so hard to judge but Think the Ref will give young rounds because he's forcing the attacks more and pressing forward.. (but maybe he didnt like mcmillans constant holding) Either way! Rematch, or not.. . there is better fights to be chatting about.. Well done to Gary Young!
i agree with bookiesbeware it was a very hard fight to score so why would anyone actually say that mcmillian won nearly every round when in truth i would say most round where a draw it was to close to say it was a robbery bearing inmind from the back of the hall it looked like mcmillian was scoring when actually he was hitting gloves or missing and if he thought he was well in front or his team surely he should have kept it at distant and use his reach advantage so why hang on at headbutt his oponent so much so once again well done to paul graham for having the balls to go against the home boxer as he should have been give two points loss for deliberate headbutts but i do believe it was a clash of styles as well a rematch will be just as bad but to clear it up i hope they get it on again but would think mcmillian will be out for months with the cut
From what I can remember Paul Graham moves about a lot when he refs fights, certainly more than other refs. Maybe he see's more.
I would like to see a re-match, think Young would do a better job now he has got rid of his ring rust.
