Gassiev comforts Dorticos after the fight

Gassiev was a very gracious winner.

Both he and Usyk are quality individuals, but I enjoy Usyk as a person more than I enjoy him as a stylist. I have a greater appreciation for the boxing of Gassiev, so I'll be pulling for him in the final.

His handlers definitely should've been getting that guy to a hospital, though.

Big class act Gassiev is. Showing compassion in a sport where it's not shown enough

 

Where is the tough guy? Dorticos has a quality chin and put up a valiant effort in taking a beating but he's always been an arrogant disrespectful loudmouth. People like him garnering sympathy once their false bravado and delusions get washed away by reality baffles me. Pathetic.

Respect to Gasssiev for showing sportsmanship though, something he consistently does. Dorticos on the other hand is your typical tough guy fluctuating between selling wolf tickets and being reduced to the emotional state of a five year old girl. He has to go back, build the wall.

Gassiev is respectful and soft spoken in all his interviews. I wasn’t surprised at this gesture.

When you can destroy 99% of men out there with your bear hands, you have nothing to prove.

He's not getting sympathy from anyone here, he's getting commendation for a manful performance. Nothing wrong with that. And if Gassiev is gracious enough to throw an arm around the guy, maybe that just makes him more magnanimous and wise than you. Dorticos may have been guilty of hubris, but that alone doesn't make him irredeemable. He was humbled last night, but he showed the guts of a real fighter, so let's see how he handles himself from here.

Gassiev's a true gentleman.

I remember in the pre fight hype video Dorticos was talking about how sad Murat was that he had to fight him and how he was going to murder him, and then it cut to Murat watching Dorticos post fight antics after knocking out Kudryashov who Gassiev said is a good friend of his, and he shook his head saying how that's so unsportsmanlike and that he would never do anything like that.

Long story short, Gassiev had all the reasons in the world to act like a cocky douchebag after the knockout, but was all class through and through.

 

Do you not think there’s doctors and experts all round the ring who give him a check after the fights done?

If they spotted anything they’d send him hospital

 

Gassiev is a nice person who fights by the rules of boxing, something SOB Ward would know nothing about, Gassiev does not cheat or trash talk....................yet, USTV boycotts he and most Eastern European fighters because of their extreme hate...............

 

Have to say you are right, Dorticos showed he has alot of heart and fight in him, even in a loss if you show me these qualities I'm going to earn alot of respect for you and keep an eye out for any future fights you may be in.

 

Exactly. And it's heart warming to see the relatively small but appreciative community of CW fans praising Dorticos in defeat for his valiant effort, not going in on him in typical disgusting fashion. I still might not be a fan of Dorticos as a person, but this is boxing, and he proves all he needs to prove in the ring, and good luck to him.

 

I'm bookmarking this one forever! A truly amazing fight. The quality on display from both fighters was amazing. Can't speak highly enough of both men. Same goes for last week's semi finalists too. Massive respect. I think Usyk vs. Gassiev in the final will be another classic too.
