Gassiev is still a great fighter!

The same Porter who fought to a draw against an old Julio Diaz was never a WW version of Tyson in my book. In addition to the draw against Diaz, he also lacks Tysonesque punching power.

I agree with you though about fans’ insistence that Gassiev is not a good fighter. He just came up against a better fighter in Gassiev.

 

gassiev is not great. at least not yet. that is TBD. but ill say his power is great. his power is something else. p4p top power ill say that with some confidence that boy can crack, but he needs to find a way to be a bit more active. im sure he will learn something from loss.

 

He's a beast. One Loss to an ATG doesn't mean it's the end of him or he's a bum.

I had him 10th p4p before the fight, and for sure he'd be like 15-20 now.

He's 24 years old, only had 25 amateur fights, and had already unified world titles and beat Lebedev, Dorticos, Wlodarzcyk.

One of the hardest punchers in boxing p4p, one of the best chins p4p.

He's only gonna improve. He'll definitely become a world champion again, and he'll definitely be making a lot of noise in the future.

gassieve is not a great fighter. more like a rios alvarado punching bag.

 

Word, Trinidad was also his era's Arthur Abraham. So was an early prime Joe Louis when Schmeling exploited his weaknesses for 13 rounds because he couldn't adjust then ktfo. Gassiev is a talent, how talented we'll have to wait and see. Guys have foils and i have a sneaking suspicion that this won't be the last or even second to last time that Usyk ends up making a very solid fighter look clueless.

If Gassiev wasn't a top level fighter he wouldn't have fought on even terms with Lebedev, smashed Wlod, or fought a brilliant tactical fight against Dorticos in which his pacing and accumulated punishment culminated in an unforgettably brutal finish.

 

Breidis has to be number 2 after that performance.

Before the fight i had it 50/50.

100% it does we are in the post Mayweather era where everybody is still compared to him and to the mainstream fans its all about that 0.

 

Gassiev got nothing to be ashamed of.He is still young and has to learn to throw the jab more and to win rounds and if the knockout comes then ok if not no problem then.He relies way too much on his power and waits to counter punch.

Not sure if at this point he has to go to HW.May be he struggles to make weight but with this plodding style he wont be able to beat H.Fury , T.Fury , Wilder and Joshua and some others perhaps too.Shouldnt get fat in between camps and rule CW if Usyk moves up in the next couple of years.

 

As long as he doesn't delete his twitter account after this, I see a bright future for him at either cruiser or heavy.
