I got a good friend from northern France (un Ch'ti) and even if he's been in Canada for 2 years sometimes we got problems understand each others! Premiere fois que je l'entends celle la! :good i will use it for sure!
Don't underestimated yourself. The interviwer speaks french with an english accent, so it's hard sometimes to understand him even if french is my first language.
Actually, that's exactly what Russ Amber was saying. He thought the running chicken style is the way to beat David and he says he thought Gates was "brilliant" for doing this. He's not so happy about the rest of course...
David got asked about the hand injury, and said the first complaint came right after he connected for the first time. However he doesn't discard the possibility of an actual injury, where as a pre-fight injury isn't to be considered here since "Gates would have spoken up". He also got asked about 2010 in general in terms of results, and David didn't really want to talk about specific fights; he rather said that he "couldn't complain" especially after sparring lots of rounds with champions such as Jean Pascal & Antonin Décarie (?? lol). He then got asked about the transition, motivation wise, from Camacho Jr to Gates. "I'm always at 100%, and motivation doesn't seem to be an issue", he said. His objective for 2011? Buy a house. Ha. I say Sturm/Martinez/Pirog mid-Dec '11. Russ Anber's turn now... he stated that clearly, Gates couldn't exchange with David so he had to plan accordingly. Anber thought Gates' approach was weird. He's a bit disappointed in that David could have learned lots by chasing the guy. He said David had to cut the ring, ended up cutting the ring, and would have cut the ring even more as the bout progressed. He thought Gates would have gotten very frustrated with the pressure. About the injury, Russ feels sorry for Gates' corner. He's got 32 years in the business, has worked with Pascal and the dislocated shoulder incident (vs Diaconu?), and feels every boxer out there should show pride and commitment. He says Gates wasn't proud per say tonight. Russ thinks it's unfortunate for the fans... he said Ayala was foreseen to take David for several rounds, and that the fans were a bit upset with the 2nd round KO. He feels David is in a nice spot going up against Rubio next. He didn't fancy a prediction, but at the same time wasn't asked to. Shyt. That's about it. :bbb
On the flip side, what French people most laughed about was the Québécois way to say "un peu". It sounds like "an peh" when they say it. :bart Chibougamau? J'ai habité Radisson pendant 10 ans, mes parents en sont à leur 19e année. Vive le ski-doo.
The 3 guys in this interview had pretty big accents, plus there's a lot of noise in the background. Myself, I have a hard time understanding the English-speaking interviewer.
Am I the only one who thinks next year is to soon for a title shot? Rubio has been out boxed twice, stopped early twice, and beat up and frustrated into crying on his stool and pulling a "No mas!" Rubio is still a nice step up, but beating Rubio would not prove David is ready for the big league. Rubio David Lopez Sergio Mora Something like that would make a good 2011 schedule. All well known and experienced guys who present a variety of styles.
I like the Mora scenario for David's development, a lot. Rubio should give a good 5-6 rounds to David. Lemieux just raises the fans' expectations by mentioning Pirog & Martinez in interviews. http://www.rds.ca/zv2/index.html?video=47550 ( http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/showthread.php?t=272698 )
You might as well give the check to Gates, even if fought a pretty negative fight. He tried to shoot some right hands over the top, broke his hand on the single one that landed, and fought the only kind of fight that might have allowed him to extend the fight. Lemieux could have jabbed more, but he was able to cut off the ring, and showed a bit better head movement on the way in. So the fight, such as it was, wasn't a complete waste of time.
Serieux ? je travail a la Baie-James avec du monde Radisson ! C'est quoi leurs noms si c'est pas indiscret? French people laugh at me when i say ; viens-t-en :huh
Did you see the desperation on his face between the two rounds? If he doesn't get the check, he's gonna be a bad case of depression. Réal Cyr & Sylvie Gagnon, les deux travaillent à l'école!
[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dexF2IglIa8"]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dexF2IglIa8[/ame] Loved how Gates was like ''all of his opponents were scared when they fought him, I will bring the fight to him''. Then this. Fortunately, Rubio is not a scared little *****.
I am fully aware of this and also aware of Smith not willing to take the fight on short notice. All I am saying is that I am very interested to see how Lemieux responds to a tough opponent that has the ability to make him go rounds. Although Rubio is a nice step-up and has a bit of a win streak going after his loss to Pavlik. Rubio is known to be a bit of a punching bag...this maybe be target practice for Lemieux. But with all that being said...still pretty-damn excited for this fight.
