Can't believe how quick that 3 years has gone

Everyone loves the Ward trilogy, so I'll go a bit different and kick things off with Gatti vs Gabriel Ruelas from 97

Amazing fight. The word 'war' is overused in boxing but it applies here.

Always loved this as well, Gatti and Ward post fight at the hospital. Skip to around 2 mins in

Talk about a guy who could absorb a tremendous amount of punishment and still fire back bombs. He was superhuman in that regard.

I always thought Arturo would have serious brain damage when he was through, because even when he won he often got beaten up. There is a bit of a trend of former athletes who suffer several concussions in their careers later suffering from serious depression. Combine that with alcohol and/or drugs, and anything can happen.

bad judgement and snappy mood swings and depression is a pretty sure way of going suicidal...especially when the child that you have worked so hard for might be taken away from you while on your holiday while your in a financial rut.

i don't think it was suicide but it is more plausible than say arguello. an older guy, in a political position, on of the the few boxers to actually make it, could of quit and retired at any time and found with a broken nose and a bullet to the heart... thats different

I like watching Gatti defending his first title. I think it embodies him as a boxer nicely and teaches an insightful lesson. Getting thoroughly outboxed early he throws strategy out the window and we see that direct pressure, aggression and heart in some cases can get the job done in its place.

Cliche memory but the first Gatti-Ward fight, when he gets Manny Steward to scream, 'this its the round of the century.'

The Rodriguez and Ruelas fights were both amazing to watch and really showed the kind of heart Gatti had.

Can't post the links at the moment but the two Ivan Robinson fights were fantastic too. The Gamache KO was scary.

Gatti vs Katsidis, Hatton or Casamayor if they were possible and all in their primes would've been some fun fights to watch.
