Obviously there's the Ward trilogy, and the Robinson & Patterson doublets. What others would you say are essential, vintage Gatti (if even only HL)? My gf, who's marginally into the sport, read about his passing from some other source at the same time I saw it on here, and shouted across the house to me. She had seen, IIRC, the Baldo and Gomez fights, and clips of FMJ and DLH. I advised her that those were not the real Gatti. Short of Ward, though - I drew a blank as to where to direct her.
The Patterson fights, Robinson fights, his war with Lil Joe Hutchinson, his wars of course with Ruelas and Rodriguez. The kid was everything Boxing was about everythign that made Boxing great was Arturo Gatti, and Diego Corrales for that matter who would have ever imagined that two fighters who were involved in the best fights in the last decade would have left us so soon. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VDFX...D6EE1693&playnext=1&playnext_from=PL&index=90
Show her Gatti's scenes from his appearance on Joes vs. Pros I like the Damgaard fight even though it was pretty much one-sided, Gatti's last hurrah.
The Manfreddy fight was also a great Gatti type fight and he was comming back to win that fight before it was stopped on that cut. True warrior I can not beleive this has happend.
Did he ever show off his jab against Patterson. Gatti could box when he wanted to. The warrior in him didn't allow him to at other times, however.
He boxed in both of those fights, thats how he won those titles, but the fighter in him would show every now and then he wouldnt be Gatti if that didnt happen, I have those fights on Tape somewhere.
I love the Rodriguez fight. Rodriguez came out very technical and floored Gatti early. Gatti was all heart though and never let up and made Rodriguez unravel in just a few rounds, turning the fight into a classic Gatti war.
