If hall of fame means being a truly great fighter and a great world champion then no way is gatti hall of fame material but if is based on impact on the sport and excitement that he has given fans then definatley a yes so i would have to say he is worthy of a hall of fame place
I'm not sure whether he does in terms of his ability as a fighter, but in terms of popularity and the impact he has had on the sport and the people who watch it, then most definitely. I suppose this argument could apply to a few boxers currently, the name Ricky Hatton springs to mind for British fans.
I definately think that he is worth to be in the Hall of Fame. Perhaps not because of how he perform in the sport but what he did for the sport. On second thought... with the way he got KO against GOMEZ?!?!?! mmm now that I think about it... I don't know.
What the hell would he be in there for? Hell he wouldn't even be remembered had he not "revived" his career by CHEATING against the old, washed up "C" level Joey Gamache. **** Arturo Gatti.
If he does that means every punchdrunk head first muppet with minimal defence deserves it too. Chuck Wepner anyone?
Based on H2H skill? No. Based on Resume? No. Some are saying what he did for the sport, what did he do for the sport? Sure he put up great fights but they were B-C class brawls...
