was he famous yes but that isnt the reaosn why he should be in here. good exciting fighter and a decent contender but he has nothing to scrape on the other hall of famers.

Damn, I thought it was just because he came in so much heavier on fight night, which doesn't constitute cheating at all.....

He should have had his licence revoked (or banned from fighting at the elite level) after the Mayweather fight. He was almost shot then, and was totally shot following that!

I disagree, in the same way I disagree with the notion of taking Holyfield's licence away. Getting destroyed by a top-class fighter isn't a good reason to take one's licence away, regardless of how awful he looked (and let's be honest, he DID look awful in the weigh-in, let alone during the actual fight).

Of course...he was a multi division champ and held the title multiple times. Even in his rawness in terms of skills he was still able to win agaisnt the very best in his hay day and he gave some very memorable fights. HOFmer for sure.

His Fights vs. Patterson, Robinson & Ward Outshine The Fact Of His Defeats.
I'm Sure his "Fights" will Find some Ack into the HOF.

But As A Champ And Boxer?
I'd have To Think On That One, Cause His Pop & Heart are Defo
What The HOF is made of, But His Heart & Will Was Bigger than His Accomplishment's.

As Far as exciting I say Yes!
But when It Comes to Numbers Ect...
I Say Ask me another day....

Man I can't believe all the "NO's" on here! Hall of Fame isn't ALL TIME GREATS! The Hall of Fame are meant for boxers who were above and beyone the normal pro boxer and there are THOUSANDS and THOUSANDS! Most...I'd say 98% never win a title, never get to a title shot...so that 2% who actually make it to the Title shot and win are not the norm by any means.

Wining in more than one weight class is anther hard task for anyone to accomplish. Does Gatti deserve to be in the Hall of Fame...Hell ****ing YES! Just look at some of the other Hall of famers who made it and they don't have half the resume Gatti does.

Club fighters, beloved and exciting as they may be, don't deserve induction in the HOF. Yeah, Art beat Tracy Patterson twice, but that doesn't make a career. Going life and death with fringe contender/stepping stone Mickey Ward and losing twice to the faded Ivan Robinson overshadow the ko over Dorin as well. I vote no.

    definately

not based on ability but based on who he was. Mr. Excitement a guy who fought for the fans and who left it all in the ring time and time again

its the hall of fame, and Gatti sure as hell is famous

Hell No. He was entertaining but he did not accomplish enough or face opposition good enough to be in the HoF.
