It's pretty much a foregone conclusion that FMJ is going to beat Ortiz, but which manner in which he'll do it is more likely? :think

Gatti, I watched highlights of Berto fight. Ortiz is gonna get pounded with right hand counters the way he fights.

You sure? This layoff and Ortiz's newfound testicular fortitude just might make the fight tougher than Floyd - or any of us expect it to be. Still, the talent gap might be too much. I gotta go with Baldomir style - boring, but effective and one sided.

"The Baldomir Beatdown" has to be the most boring fight ever. Up there with Klitschko vs Ibragimov

Neither. Baldomir and Gatti were solid fighters that got by on heart and determination. Except size, they were outgunned in every department against Mayweather. Ortiz is actually a talented fighter who has question marks surrounding his heart. He seemed to overcome some of those heart issues in his last fight.

Make no mistake though, he has talent. He has speed, power, and size. He's much younger than Mayweather and Mayweather has been incredibly inactive. This has the makings of an entertaining fight. I'm really conflicted on how this fight is going to turn out. It could be a close battle, it could be another virtuoso performance by Mayweather. I can't wait to find out.

One sided, but entertaining. I expect Ortiz to bring it, leave it all in the ring, and as a result... leave on his shield. I've seen many fighters become gun-shy against Floyd just to go the distance. I don't expect Ortiz to pack it in. I expect him to go for broke.... all or nothing.

Gatti - Floyd peak area as was Baldomir. Both were older. Ortiz southpaw with proven power at 147 age 24 facing the oldest most inactive FLoyd in history. He ain't getting better only declining. This fight is gonna be a shocker. This will be the most gun shy Floyd to date.

Don't be fooled by Joe Cortez, he is there for Victor and GBP. Floyd is a master of the clench, a real old school master in a good way.
How their styles match up, Cortez will be a huge advantage for Victor as he wants to brawl. He doesn't need to fight like hatton and JMM and get inside but use his long power and wide stance. If Floyd shows a little ring rust and wants to clinch when Ortiz is sparking off, Cortez will neutralize that aspect of Floyd's game. This fight has a lot of subtle undertones here as far as GBP and their realization of Ortiz as their cash cow and the notion they do not believe the Floyd vs Manny fight will happen.
At the least this will be the fight where Floyd has the most working against him in his career.

It really was a painfully boring fight, made even more pathetic by Floyd's hurt feelings after the fight. Baldomir wasn't even remotely in Floyd's league. I have no idea why Floyd didn't try to just a little more entertaining. Technically, it wasn't even a beatdown. One sided, but not a beatdown by any means.

    Somewhere in the middle.

More similar to Hatton is my prediction.

Do you think the politics actually favor Ortiz, were it to be a close fight and go to the cards?

    Remember the Al Haymon factor.

That's actually a good one. Struggles just a tiny bit in the beginning trying to figure out his opponent's style...Ortiz fans will have their moments to cheer, but Floyd will ultimately adjust, and end up cracking Ortiz over and over. I just don't see him knocking Ortiz out, though.
