How does this fight play out? I would have loved to have seen this fight after the third fight Gatti had with Mickey.... compared to Ward, How does Gatti do against Augustus or does Gatti hit that much harder than ward he stops Augustus? I think this fight would have been an all out war from start to finish another compu box record breaker and anothter Ring Magazine FOTY......
Right I mean we would see brawls in spots and good ones, well placed shots, shoulder to shoulder and then when they boxed you would see Gatti with his newer style per McGirt and Emanuel doing his drunken boxing master **** that would have been the fight.... I mean that fight had so much potential I have no idea why nobody called for that fight...
This fight would've been awesome. But I feel toward the end, around the 9th or so Gatti will have Augustus worn down worse than vice versa, and probably score a Tko.
i know Gatti has ALOT of power in both hands, but i can't stop help but thinking that if a 135 lb Mayweather couldn't stop Augustus, than Gatti probably won't, but idk :think
Drunkenmaster vs Maromero Paez would of been entertainment delight. Theyd start doing cartwheels and backflips in middle of the fight. Even a dance off. But yea, I think Thunder would welcome a war with Augustus and would of been a funfight.
I would say Gatti had WAY more power than Mayweather, for 1. Secondly, by the later rounds Gatti would have done more damage and worn Augustus down. Third, I think Gatti (a two time world champ with FOTY props) wipes the floor with Augustus (never a world champ) inside 8 rounds, easily. A better fight would have been Gatti vs. Hatton @ 135/140.
part of me wants to say that, i'm just saying under 140 lbs, Floyd threw alot more and of course had more speed and the accuracy was still there, but i do see Gatti stopping Augustus, and i'm in no way shape or form going against Gatti here, just look at my avatar
Depends on what Augustus shows up, in top form I think Auguustus could beat Gatti, but you honestly don't know what you will get from him.
This wouldn't have been as competitive as some of you might think. Gatti by wide UD if he decided to box. Augustus had problems with guys who could box him at range. The style matchup would have been all wrong for Augustus who was a counter puncher by nature and did his best work when guys came to him. See Emanuel's fights versus Kelson Pinto and Omar Weis for an example of what this fight would've looked like.
I disagree, Gatti can easily be frustrated and he tends to throw boxing out the window under those circumstances... Augustus is a man who will frustrate you and beleive me if the Augustus who fought Olivera shows up I think Honestly he has a very good shot of beating him.. The war that never was....
I see Gatti coming all night.. Augustus is up on the scorecards but probably gets wore down and caught late.. but it the Focus Augustus shows up then I can see him winning SD Victory.. Gatti was nasty as fights got late.. he seemed to have fighters thinking he was dead in the water ready to lay it down then outta nowhere he Powers up and knocks fire from his opponent late.. It happen to often for me to say it doesn't happen to Augustus.. but that would have been one hella fight..
