Who would have won this match up?
I think Gatti's penchant for going to war would have cost him in the end, Diego had bombs. But Diego's glass jaw makes me wonder. Would have been an awesome fight though.

    Great fantasy fight idea.

Off the top of my head I don't know who to pick, but would be interested in seeing what some of the other folks have to say about it.

I say Gatti. He has the better chin. In a battle of punchers, the man with the better chin wins.
Chico may punch harder, but I don't think he can take Gatti's power. They both can box, when they felt like it.

I think Corralles would have given Gatti a horrible beating

Corrales didn't have a glass jaw.

Agree. Corrales' resume is FAR superior. Wins over Castillo, Casamayor, Freitas.
Also Corrales destroyed Manfredy while Manfredy gave Gatti a beating.
Corrales may have had weak chin, but he was clearly the better boxer

corrales had some very good skills, yes he liked a war but was no where near as crude as gatti, proved against frietas, jlc etc he could go to war and also box against the likes of casa, corrales for me

Corrales beats Gatti. People seem to forget that Corrales was actually skilled.

    Gatti by KO.

Even Prime-Corrales had no head-movement and a very weak defence. Gatti would be a lot faster in a war and would kill Diego with his left hook.

"Chico" would have blasted Gatti out w/ease. (135lbs)

Since it's a fantasy matchup let's say it's Gatti in his physical prime with Buddy in his corner and a more disciplined strategy... I'd call <60\40 in favour of Corrales. It's all about Gatti's upper body movement, if he sets himself up or simply 'lures' Corrales into an inside battle it's a close fight.
I don't know why suddenly Gatti is seen as someone with 'zero skills', he was a 3-time belt holder and was pretty competitive in his one Lineal World Title fight, he was just at a stylistic disadvantage in a weight class slightly too big for him. He lasted about the same amount of time against DLH as Mayorga did, who was about 10-15lbs bigger.

Corrales would box Gatti's head off, can't see how anyone would think otherwise.

    Well done Sir!
60/40 is about fair. I'm glad that some body remembered that Gatti had skills, when he WANTED TO USE THEM. He never was Willie Pep but he could box.
