I think alot of guys here are letting revisionist history get the better of them. Gatti was a stud and a warrior but a fight with Katsidis, considering how easy it was to drag Gatti into a war is not a gimme. Katsidis has very good power in either hand. And much like Gatti he marks up very bad. Gatti is certainly the better "pure" boxer as demonstrated towards the end of his career. But Gatti was very easy to drag into a fire fight. This fight is a genuine 50/50. Whichever man doesnt get cut to ribbons first wins.
Gatti was a very good fighter. But he fought in divisions that at that time had ALOT of depth. He was only one peg away from being a gatekeeper. Matter of fact you could easily put him in that category.
And I agree with you. But he had a better chin than Kat, and a bigger punch. Therefore I'd favor him in this slugfest.
Even at the end of Gatti's career (baring the Gomez fight), I always considered him a pretty damn dangerous gatekeeper. Cause even if you were beating Gatti you never knew when he would land a flush left hand from hell that would change your career.
Hmm, I feel originally I was being a tad harsh on Gatti. He'd probably win but I still haven't made mind up on this.
I don't know what will happen or who will do what and I really don;t care. All i know is both guys will be bleeding, beating the living **** out of each other while smiling, and someone will win by KO. Most likely Gatti.
I could just imagine the raw excitiment that would rip through fans... This would be the pinnacle of "blood and guts" boxing. Both fighters specialty.
