I had it a draw but have no problem with Micky taking it. Round 1-Gatti 10-9 Round 2-Gatti 10-9 Round 3-Ward 10-9 Round 4-9-9 even Round 5-Ward 10-9 Round 6-Gatti 10-9 Round 7-Gatti 10-9 Round 8-Ward 10-9 Round 9-Ward 10-8 Round 10-Gatti 10-9 Total:94-94 draw.Altough Gatti boxed fairly good the KD and point deduction made the difference most likely
1 of my favourite fights ever between 2 of my favourite fighters ever,i had micky winning by 1 point due to the knockdown when i watched the fight originally, although last time i watched i had it draw.
That left hook hurt me whaen it landed, don't know how he got up to finish the fight, unbelievable.Altough the fight could have been stopped in the 9th I thought the point deduction was pretty easy
By outboxing him badly (what does it say about your boxing skills when a guy like Gatti is schooling you with lateral movement, the jab, i.e. pure boxing techniques?) for the early rounds while Ward walked forward in straight lines not throwing punches because of his inability to get off on a moving target. Ward was so limited as a fighter, both of them really, which is why I never got much into their fights. But I definitely thought, despite the KD, that Gatti outboxed Ward for the majority.
I was meaning about how did you score, you probably gave Gatti al the close rounds.Anyway I respect you as a poster but Gatti was not tha bad as a boxer, especially ear;y in his career.
Yeah,if he foughht in the 40's and LaMotta fought in this era(example) the roles would have been turned about their careers.
