I feel this is a legit question, because although these two fights were completely different in the skill level, the amount of drama was there for both.

I liked Gatti vs Ward more personally, because Gatti happens to be my favorite boxer, causing me to be more into the fight.

But Izzy vs Marquez did fight with as much guts as Gatti & Ward, and were much better in boxing ability.

Gatti and Ward, seemed to have more in common with the average boxing fan, because they weren't other worldly good like Marquez and Vazquez, and imho I feel like that is why alot of people would favor the gatti/ward trilogy.

And yes, I'm sure race can play a card too.

Vazquez-Marquez, by a pretty clear margin.

Gatti-Ward 1 was awesome, the next two were pretty one-sided fights.

I don't know about the race card, but I think the ethnic backgrounds added to the allure for some in Gatti-Ward, at least for some of the media. Boxing in America is no longer a big mainstream sport, when it used to be huge in the early 20th century. A lot of fighters then were of Irish or Italian background, which added to the whole "throwback" thing in Gatti-Ward. I've heard people in the media mention this, hell, HBO broadcast the rematch in black and white up until the opening bell to give it a "Golden Age" feel.

Only people from the east coast would think about this . hands down Marquez vs Vasquez. we have to A talents with everything the 2 C class fighters fight had. and plus izzyvs rapha fights 3 of the 4 ended in KO's something the Gatti vs ward fights failed to produce

either that or from the eastcoast. eastcoast people usally tend to feel there better at evverything then West coast people and the rest of the US. but they're not. and it's hard for them to accept :yep

Gatti-Ward was entertaining, but pretty one-sided. The second fight was a shutout, or a 9-1 decision. The third fight was a 8-2 fight, and the only two rounds Ward won were when Gatti injured his hand, and then when he scored a KD after losing the first 2:55 of the round.

    Vazquez-Marquez > Gatti-Robinson > Gatti-Ward
