I've already got my top three heavyweights done.

    I'm practically finished.

Not that what I'm about to say applies to you, nor that it will necessarily apply to anyone.

But one of the reason I'm hoping for some friendly debate, is I think it's an ongoing educational process for everyone who spends most of his time posting in Classic. I mean, nobody here knows everything about every great pugilist who graced the inside of the squared circle.

So if Poster A makes a strong case for Fighter X (either over Fighter Y or independent of) - a fighter that maybe Poster B isn't overly familiar with - well, if something like that arises and someone is inspired in a way they learn more about a specific boxer they may not have known a lot about, maybe that will result in a revision. Not that I think this would be a likely occurrence, but I can say from personal experience just reading many of the spirited debates I've seen here over the years has been highly "educational".

Anyway, I'm very excited about this myself, and am overjoyed so many are willing to contribute. Can't wait to crunch the numbers and organize the final tallies.

And you have been given there chances after being banned. Color yourself lucky.

To the others reading, it has been ten years since the ESB survey. Right now I'm hosting the top 5 wins of each heavyweight lineal champion. The debate is lively. It's not who is better than who, rather which wins were the best for each man.

Very random question, would your lists be influenced in any by the 'by-decade' projects you did?

    I'm ready.

Just done top 15 ATG (this probably only needs clarifying for me, but that's ATG not H2H) for every division including P4P.

    Bosh.

I suppose this will be covered later, but wondering if you can put a fighter in more than one division?

Really really looking forward to this, hopefully it's all good-spirited debate and doesn't turn toxic.

Well, I'm not contributing my own lists, but no. Mine probably wouldn't, because those only really included 1930-onward (except for the finale, which also included stuff dating back to 1924). And while I think those could potentially act as a "starting point", I think those lists are a bit flawed for a number of reasons.

I think a balance can reasonably be struck between ATG-H2H, but the spirit is ATG. And just for the record, the All Time List is a Top 25 (the 8 divisions are Top 15).

Sure. No reason you can't list someone in multiple weight classes.

My favourite thing about those videos were giving me a database to start my own research into fighters in the lower weights. Really helpful actually.

And, to debate the debate before the debate starts (or something like that) ... I can choose a lifelong 140-pounder in the welterweight rankings, for instance? Since we’re only doing the Original 8 divisions I mean.

Or, alternately, if I felt a lifelong 140-pounder (let’s say Aaron Pryor even though I doubt he’d merit consideration) didn’t belong in the welterweight top 15, I could include him in the ATG25 if I felt he was one of the top 25 fighters ever (I don’t).

What I’m getting at, obviously, is where the tweeners fit.
