Impressed by Mitchell. I think he will pick up a world title at some point, but maybe in the same way Hatton did, just fall short against the very, very top guys. But no doubt he will have some very exciting bouts along the way. No need to rush Cleverly, give him some experience against guys at European level. He'll pick up some confidence along the way, and then throw him into a world title shot. Gavin is also impressing me, even though he is only just starting out. But like people have mentioned, does he have the power to cope at the very top level? Will his boxing skills and the experience he picks up along the way help him cope at the top level? Gavin doesn't need to be rushed like Khan was, give him a load of experience and I can see him improving a lot. Am I right in saying DeGale is campaigning at Super Middle? If so, I would much prefer to see him move down to Middle.
Also, if you havn't heard of Stephen Smith from Liverpool, either check him out or keep an eye out for him. I'm pretty sure he's with Frank Warren. He's looking like a really good prospect at the minute.
The guys at Super Middle just look so much bigger than him, and I know size isn't everything but I don't think he has the power. Obviously his power can be worked on as he is probably only just learning to plant his feet and sit down on his punches, but his best option would be to move down to Middle and work on his speed. If he trims down and works on his speed, he would no doubt add a lot of sting to his punches.
along with kel brook, i think they all are potential world champs in the making. i think degale could be the best of the lot but he is very irratating. he thinks he's made it big already and like someone said earlier in the thread, there is a slight chance he could go down the audley harrison route. too much money before he has achieved **** all.
Yeah them Smith's from Liverpool are a good bunch, quite a few of them. I think Mitchell will come up short against Katsidas, just one of them feeling's. DeGale, out of all the British Olympians he's the one i least expected to win a medal. He think's because he won it he's the best, most skilled boxer walking the earth. Seeing him getting a slap around the ring would be nice
George Groves is with Frankie Gavin the stand out prospect for me.A guy who is a bit further along in his career and will beat Cleverly is Tony Bellew.
Mitchell will be a world champion , because i think if he gets his shot at Katsidis for the vacant strap he'll win that fight , i dont think its a no brainer but i do fancy him !!!!! , its hard to see where Kevin goes from there though to be honest , LW is a serious shark tank of a division and i dont fancy Kevins chances at moving up to 140 either . Warren will have to match him well after Katsidis . Cleverley - has battered everybody in front of him at domestic and European level , but there are flaws in his game , his defence is not great and he leaves himself open to counters very often , but he can seriously bang , he is a natural athlete , has a great build for LHW and i fancy him to be world champion at some point . De Gale has adapted really really well since his pro debut and i get the guys humour so i like him , he can come across as seriously dis like able but i like him , i think at 168 he's ready even now for a British title !!!!! Gavin is class , its that simple , he's talented but his body doesnt look seasoned yet , if he can become more of an athlete he looks un stoppable , would like to see him in 2 years time and see where he is !!!!
Frankie Gavin has the most talent,De Gale has talent but what Gavin has over him is mental strength and focus,De Gale's mentality is not focused enough and screams "complacency" to me,whilst Gavin's screams "maturity, focus, all business" With that said i think at the current moment De Gale is capable of moving up in class faster than Gavin because he has a better defence and is fighting smarter DEFENSIVELY! Im far from a fan of De Gale and whilst he did get cuffed with a couple of shots he was also being very aggressive and putting it on the opponents toes so that is to be expected a little, Gavin got hit with cuffing punches whilst moving away or pulling out which is more of a concern imo because that brings questions of his defence or ring generalship. If Gavin can use his legs more stop fighting flat footed and improve his defence then he will easily go further than De Gale imo. Gavin should get some experience under him then get Roach on board,a World Class trainer, seriously what is Farnell gonna teach the boy about defence? its like having Iran Barkley teach you too defend yourself.
