Just curious what other folks think on this fight. Gavin opened as the favorite, but it appears the fight will close with Gavin as a slight 'dog. Gavin has the better resume and opposition fought, as Eggington's best wins are not of the noteworthy variety. Gavin is coming off a stoppage loss to Kell Brook, while Eggy's last fight was Tech. Dec. (cuts) over Glenn Foot. Gavin is 30, Eggy is 21. Fighters are of a similar height (5'10 and 5'11). Eggington doesn't have a lot of experience fighting southpaws. He lost a 3 rounder (Prizefighter) to Johnny Coyle and blasted out a winless leftie in 2 rounds. Who you got?
Eggington wins a decision in my opinion. Gavin will be too negative, he has talent, he can box well enough on the back foot but his style is not very fan friendly, Eggington will press the fight and take it to Gavin and I think a packed arena will support that and that can sway a decision. I see Eggington just being too young, too energetic and hungrier than Gavin but I do think Gavin is experienced enough and knows enough to have his moments and go the distance.
Gavin vs Brook looked like a middleweight vs a lightweight. Added to the fact he shouldn't be fighting against world level welterweights I think he knew Brook was too big and strong for him before he got in the ring. However.... Whilst I like what eggington has done in the past 18 months the evens for a Gavin win is Christmas come early in my opinion
