Think he learned a hard lesson in with Brook tbh mate as everytime in the clinch Kell near ripped his arm off in the grip , Very much like hatton said the difference between 140 and 147 was massive in terms of bullying fighters , Franks lifestyle of diet coke and nandos is ok for a treat say for a week or 2 post fight but after that he should be looking at a very strict programme much like a bodybuilders final 8 weeks from show cycling carbs and training properly 2-3 times per day , he uses a great conditioner Jamie at velocity training so in esence his only problem must be lack of road work getting the miles in and a shockingly poor diet , id like to see him have 1 go at 140 then even look at making 135 as hes giving away far too much natural atributes at 147
Very simillar problems , both need to be fighting in there proper weight division , ricky will be back at 135 in august on the Hull bill im told in a 10 rounder then a big fight lined up at 135
True, but Brook could be a 154'er if he was a touch taller. He is absolutely massive at Welter. This is it, you see. Gavin already has great S&C people around him. It's his nutrition that's out of whack. It's like putting cooking oil in a sports car? Why not just use the best fuel (in this case, healthy food) instead? Road work is nothing in the bigger picture, it really isn't. It's an outdated method, IMO. Especially for someone like Gavin. A defensive-based fighter with a low output? He doesn't need the cardio. Sprints, Swimming, Rowing, Cycling... He could, and should, do that instead.
If you think people like Provodnikov, Matthysse, Petersen could make 140 there's no way Gavin can't make 140. He's just a lazy little ****er, who won't/can't stick to a strict diet. Khan and Garcia were both making 140 a year ago and they're both ****ing huge compared to Gavin.
From what ive always been led to believe the miles on the road make a massive difference to the legs in punch resistance and staminer to go the 12 mate , the lads i know fighting pro always seem to clock up early morning runs circa 8 miles and once a week bashing out 10-13
Unfortunately I can't see Gavin making much of an impact at 140 either. 135 maybe but I doubt he could make that. Funny how he's been stubborn about moving down for years and now he's with Matchroom he's moving down to 140 nearly straight away.
