Forgotten before he was even truly recognised, an on form Gavin Rees was realisation of the progression of what is boxing tactics put into practice, to effect. If not for problematic areas of the man's make-up, not the boxer's, then i believe the strategic genious would continue to be displayed. Unfortunately for the purist boxing fan, the prime of Rees is already damaged beyond repair, a fall from grace even more abrupt than that of Wilfred Benitez. Here, in his shining moment, Rees displays the application of a gameplan to such a degree of perfection that would make even Bernard Hopkins red with envy. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VPoIykmtJkw[/ame] you know how the fight unfolded, Rees was like a sneaky ferret that night, on roller blades and armed with an automatic pellet gun. He'd be in, get the scoring shots off and be out so fast that his man was too frustrated to re-shape and re-think. Gavin Rees. Legend. ESB, Admire
The guy is such a legend he beat 3 former European champions in one night. No wonder all the top guys at 135 are ducking him.
Well pac has always struggled with pure boxing tacticians and Gavin Rees is a tactician of the highest order i'll let you work it out!
I reckon his small stature works to his advanatage as he is able to stay low and get inside Pacquiao and let his shots off and work the body.
It's really great that Bing and GPater acknowledge what i do about Rees' ability as a ring general. Why do you guys think he's so underrated?
