I expect him to jump the pack and become Khans first defence in a huge gamble for the amazing young Bolton lad.

Rees is the least deserving world champion in history.

Never understood the hate for Rees, the guy wins a world title in a weight division to high (he had love handles ffs) and loses it in a cracking scrap to a good fighter. Sure he was never gonna be a great world champ but what was he supposed to do? turn the chance down.

Gavin Rees would beat the living shite out of John Murray at lightweight yet Murray is talked about as the second coming by some. :patsch

I for one cant wait for the little buzz saw to tear through the lightweight division - would love to see Ress v Katsidis or any of the Diaz's

???? The fact that he beat the WBA champion proved he deserved to be a champion!

I would say he is the worst champion/title holder I have ever seen.

M'Baye is notorius for switchin it on or off and I can only presume that M'Baye's mind was in the Maldives at the time.

The fact he won it with a belly full of burger king shows how talented he is;). No?

World champs i consider worse than Rees:-
    Paul "Silky" Jones
    Jason Matthews
Paulie Mallignagi (entire career based on going distance with dead at the weight Cotto)

Straight off the top of me head, must be loads worse the world over

Jones and Matthew had Warren belts so I'm not even sure we should even be counting them. And Malinaggi would box the ears off Rees - IMO!

Mallignaggi would destroy rees. He fought very decent oppoents and deserved his title shot.

Who did Rees beat to deserve a title shot? In the fight before he beat a guy with a 9-47 record???

Whether he deserved the chance or not he took it...

Good luck to him at Lightweight...

I'd much rather be among the alleged weakest world champions in history than never a world champion at all.

He got his chance and took it, enough said.

Whos questioning if Ress deserved a shot or not? thats not the point, he was a Wank Warren fighter at the time so he was never gonna fight top contenders.

Understand i'll be in the minority who think Rees beats Malignagi but i thought he was garbage and lost both his world title defences before getting battered by a past it Hatton, how he would destroy Rees though I cant quite figure seeing as Malignaggi is incapable of stopping anyone with a pulse let alone a good fighter like Gavin.

You agree though that he is not the worst champion you have seen as you failed to mention Matthews or Jones?

Edit: Sorry rob got you confused with slapbangwallop with last bit

Well hope I'm wrong but on past form I don't think he's got the dedication needed to get back to the top. I remember seeing him in Vegas for the Hopkins fight and I couldn't believe the size on his beer gut! Seems a nice guy though, had time to talk and pose for photos with anyone in New York in some Irish bar before the Jones fight.
