rees does need to go down in weight as he is a good little boxer but can only fight certain styles of boxers hence winning the belt fighting a boxer that suited his style and losing it fighting the wrong style of boxer. anyone who says he didnt deserve the belt should rewatch title winning fight as he fully deserved it.
Mallinagi is much better technically and will win easily by a wide UD. Rees should drop to lightweight and make that fight with Khan he was banging on about.
he was never in race races. I was ringside and had some Phil Spector likealikey behind me saying that Rees was ahead when it was stopped. When I told him he was talking shite he told me I didnt know anything about boxing and that "he had been in the game over 20 years"
Good fight for both men. Both guys would get a decent workout and exposure. Ree's would look to get himself back in the title frame and Malinfaggi gets an easier comeback fight from his last loss. Ree's would have to work damm hard to get near a win but he has shown himself to be able to beat better fighters.
Wow, you were talking to Richie Woodhall:yikes I still laugh thinking about Bunce tearing into Woodhall about his shite scorecard post-fight. Classic.
I don't know any Brits that gave Malinaggi high marks against Hatton. All he did was hold and double over so Hatton got warned for hitting him on the back of the head. I don't think I;d be that bothered about watching a fight between him and Rees.
Why would Malignaggi want to come to the UK to fight again? Unless he's lining up Witter or something. Can't see why Rees would want to fight someone whose not going to bring in a lot of punters in a weight he shouldn't stay in and get beat. Mind you I can't see Rees fighting full stop at the moment.
Paulie sounds SO depressed after the Hatton fight, I don't know if he's in the mindset to beat any good light welters. The guys seriously sounds like he wants to quit boxing.
He'd lost the fight no doubt, but it was a dignified effort all the same, and a shame he didn't last till the end.
