I don't think that JMM has slowed down as much as some people are making out...he is being judged way too much on the Mayweather fight...Khan is nowhere near Mayweathers class.

Marquez has variety in punches, can adapt, excellent footwork, and does have reasonable power...Maidana only has power. He has no footwork, no plan B, his chin is no better than Khans and I doubt that he would land anything on a mobile Khan all night. JMM would undoubtedly land. The only chance that Maidana has is if Khan is dumb enough to stand toe to toe, and with the state of Maidanas whiskers its not a given that he would come out on top even if that happened.

Flea, with your obsession with chinage I am surprised that you are championing someone as fragile as Marcos :thumbsup

So you could say he's a "hater", which is what he calls anyone who is not prepared to hang off Khan's nuts.

Again, this is because of some people thinking Khan is better than he is, which is sad, because it shows careful matchmaking can work and win over knowledgable folks.

But I think Maidana can cause him problems. I think Marquez will cause Khan some problems, but that if Maidana whacks Khan with the right hand we will really see how much Khan has progressed.

Marquez just isn't big enough to consistently hit Khan IMO. Maidana won't need to hit Khan that often to turn a fight around.

I will change my opinion COMPLETELY if Marquez looks quality and forces Khan into an amazing matchup that our boy still manages to pull the win out! That would be immense.

But it will be a borefest. Some peppering combos, a bit of lateral movement, not taking any chances and outjabbing Marquez at range all night.

I've had the misfortune of watching more than a couple of his fights....he's awful. Get on Khans back for not fighting Bradley or Alexander, that may well be valid, but not for not fighting Maidana. He is so slow that I could probably keep away from him for a round :yep

You really should read my posts and not just make **** up....."hate" is an irrational dislike of a fighter not based on any demonstrable fact. I don't "hate" Maidana either as a fighter or a person, he's just not very good. Have you watched more than one or two of his fights? If you have you would be arguing my corner, unless you are a hater of course :hey

It was only not boring because Ortiz was dumb enough to stand in front of a man who can bang. Even then he had Maidana down three times, twice with nothing shots. What makes you think that Khan would be as dumb as Ortiz?

:think Yet you still rate him?, Jesus

Flea Man you talk a lot of sence which is rare on this forum.

People say Maidana is "chinny", but let's be honest, Ortiz hit's hard too. People seem to think Maidana was floored by a feather fisted fighter when he was'nt, Ortiz would easily put Khan on his arse.

He was early in his career - quite a heavy knockdown too.

Good post, it's the other side of the argument and well put :good

I don't think Maidanas chin looks horrifically bad. The fact it doesn't stop him from taking chances and not adapting his crude style to protect it suggests to me he's a proper fighter. Khans match making suggests to me the 'improvements' he's made under Roach is all smoke and mirrors, and that he will constantly be hampered and not allowed to take fights that can really REALLY force him to prove himself.

As I say, I'm not certain Khan is any better than Ortiz. Khans new style really just doesn't impress me as much as some either, I think someone who can whack will force him out of his comfort zone.

Aesthetic attributes :rofl What was I thinking there?!? But I explained it yesterday so you know what I mean :good

I'm just not that impressed with Khan, hence why I think a fight with Maidana could be potentially very competitive.

I've only seen a handfull of Maidana fight's, around 7-8 and not seen that one.

I retract the previous statement haha. I still think it'd test Khans concentration fighting Maidana. He fought a smart fight against Kotelnik but could afford to throw in a risk every now and then knowing nothing would come back, same with Malignaggi, he could'nt afford to do that with Maidana.

The Maidana fight bring's much more than the JMM fight in my opinion

But my point is you call others haters for pointing out valid points about Khan and his unwillingless to take on hard fights, there's noting irrational in thinking that Khan is a cherrypicker. The demonstrable facts can be found with a quick look at his level of opposition.
You seem to think that Maidana doesn't deserve to be in the ring with Khan but you have to remember that he worked his way to the mandatory position so regardless of what you think of him he should get his shot.

By a club fighter who retired with an 11-13 record and an 11% KO ratio. He makes Limond look like Ernie Shavers

The point that i'm trying to make, and you seem to be ignoring, is that you are judging Khan by a standard but are giving everyone else a pass. What about Bradley (Campbell, Cherry) Alexander (Kotelnik). I'm not saying that Khan isn't cherrypicking, just that every other titlist in the division is doing precisely the same....I still believe that JMM will be a much greater risk to Khan than Maidana will be.
