I hope Gavin steps up the competition sooner rather than later. He looked like a seasoned pro with 20+ fights under his belt last time out against McDonagh. He is a tremendous talent and I really hope he is managed well and isn't left to stagnate fighting bums for the next few years. James De Gale is good fighter but in my opinion he won't have anywhere near the success Gavin will get. I just can't like the guy though. His entrance song and showboating was so cringe worthy. You'd swear he was at Madison Square Gardens.
I'm a Daws fan but the way he's been performing i'd take Gavin to win. Lenny hasn't been the same fighter we first saw win the British title. The only worry would be the latter rounds because Daws makes you work 3 mins per round and also can box soundly so it would be dangerous waters but i think Gavin would see through.
thats a good point but then again there is no point fighting bums. like some1 said before he's beating the best am's in the world so fighing no-hopers aint a good move
Who's the European champ? Who cares who it is, Id have no worries chucking Gavin in with next. Either way, Daws soon.
McCloskey is light welter European champion and the Lightweight title has been left vacant and Murray's up next to challenge for it i think.
Paul McCloskey's the EBU champ. I'd like to see Gavin fight Steve Williams for the English title next, and then goes for Daws.
Frankie is a MUCH BETTER prospect then DeGale at present. DeGale is a TERRIBLE fighter. Frankie, if you ****ing fight for some intercontni-wanker **** then I won't be happy. The best fights for you are English, British, Commonwealth, Europe, eliminator, title shot. Make it happen. After your next 8 rounder (hopefully against a live body), then go for the English title in a 10 rounder against Steve Williams. It makes perfect sense. He is 9-0, English champ and coming off of a win over Grant.
Of course it's McCloskey!!! Well he's one guy I wouldn't recommend to Gavin at this time to be honest. Anyone know when he's fighting next?
i dont mind him to much. met him once and he's nothing like how he comes across on TV. i think he will come good in the end but mite take abit longer
Interesting. I don't think Gavin is as likely to go 12 as degale right now, so your point is right. However, long-term, Gavin is gonna be a bit special.
time will tell if frankie's am pedigree translates into good pro form. We will only know this when he is put in with "live" opponents. with degale, he hasn't got the fundamentals right so far. he will beat who is in front of him right now, as he does have a degree of talent that will carryhim, but unless he starts to adapt better and stop slapping like a ***** he will get found out, and will be on a thread on here in 10 years time, with people asking where it went wrong, and why didnt he make it. mark my words
